Netflix's Labor Relations team is responsible for managing the company's relationships with all entertainment industry unions and guilds. They represent Netflix externally in negotiations for various multi-employer agreements with unions like DGA, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE and more and provide expert advice internally to the studio on a broad range of labor-related issues involved in production.
Netflix's labor team is seeking an Associate (Counsel) to help support its slate of live action and animated films. The successful candidate will have prior experience in a business affairs, legal, production, and/or labor relations setting, and will be self-motivated, quick-thinking, flexible, and able to juggle multiple responsibilities with a strong emphasis on organization and an unwavering attention to detail. This is a demanding and fast-paced role that requires curiosity and significant initiative. This role will report to the Senior Director, Labor Relations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Handle submission and responses to union/guild requests and requirements, such as information requests, waivers, and DGA/WGA Weekly Worklists.
* Provide advice to internal groups and production personnel regarding the terms of union and guild agreements.
* Assist in negotiating above and below-the-line union and guild agreements in a multi-employer group.
* Research, compile, and prepare data for use in grievance hearings, arbitration proceedings, labor/management initiatives and collective bargaining negotiations.
* Investigating and resolving labor-related grievances and claims.
* Support the Labor Relations team on projects and priorities.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS required; J.D. preferred;
* 2-3+ years of related work experience is recommended;
* Demonstrated good judgment and strong critical thinking skills;
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
* Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment;
* Comfortable with fluidity and iteration, and open to change and new ideas.
* High level of organization, detail orientation and ability to time-manage.
* Willingness to tackle matters outside their area of expertise.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $70,000 - $350,000.

About the role
In this role, you will help Netflix build the foundation infrastructure for our Live Broadcast Technology group. As a Broadcast Engineer, you will work in collaboration with the Broadcast Operations & Transmission and Broadcast Systems teams on developing a remote and distributed end-to-end infrastructure for live signal acquisition, inspection, validation, and distribution, heavily relying on software-defined networks and software development practices.
You will impact multiple areas of the live event lifecycle and lead innovative approaches for broadcast engineering practices assisting on the build of repeatable and consistent workflows as we scale our live streaming efforts.
Responsibilities
* Develop and support innovative and reliable live broadcast technological and operational workflows, coordinating with production, transmission, integration and Netflix live streaming pipeline teams and beyond to ensure production requirements are met for all of Netflix's live programming.
* Work on the design, build and support Netflix Live Ingest Points of Presence (LiPoPs) and Broadcast Operations Centers (BOCs).
* Act as the escalation point for live event technical issues, taking an active, hands-on role in supporting higher-profile live events remotely and onsite.
* Monitor and manage cloud-based and hardware-based video infrastructure. Provide analysis and remediation of any issues in the video workflow.
* Manage, build, and evolve ground ingest capabilities, including signal acquisition, inspection, validation, and standardization.
* Identify opportunities for technical and operational efficiencies throughout the broadcast airchain, pursuing solutions from the discovery and project planning phases through to implementation.
* Represent Netflix in broadly scoped live production-focused partnerships, maintaining productive relationships that will ensure the success of Netflix's live projects.

Qualifications
* 8+ years of experience in live Broadcast Engineering, from support to system design and integration.
* Experience with IP-based and virtualized workflows and modern broadcast core technologies such as ST-2110 and NMOS, PTP, JPEG-XS, UHD and HDR workflows, SRT, AVC/HEVC, and Zixi.
* Deep expertise in broadcast workflow technology and concepts surrounding transmission and contribution feeds, routing, format validation and conversion, closed captioning, SCTE104/35, playout, record, storage, intercom, and monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies and solutions.
* Advanced knowledge of networking fundamentals, ability to support, maintain & troubleshoot IP-based 2110 workflows and consult on network design.
* Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with end users, process and product owners, developers, systems engineers, technical and non-technical internal and external partners, and various levels of management including executives.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent multi-quarter projects from inception to the first day of business, including managing third-party vendors.
