Purpose: This position is part of a team of employees that work together to help fulfill the mission and goals of the Department of Public Safety (DPS). This team, and the certified/sworn police officer, is responsible for maintaining the peace and security of the campus. The licensed/sworn police officer acts as a liaison with federal, state and local police and fire officials.
Scope: Responsible for enforcement duties for the protection, safety and welfare of students, faculty, staff and visitors and all property within the area under the control and jurisdiction of Mott Community College. Given the nature of the position, this position is responsible for crucial confidential data. S/he is expected to exercise sound judgment on issues that arise.
Dimension: This position, under general supervision, preserves the peace; protects life and property; prevents and detects crimes; enforces laws and ordinances; and maintains a public service approach towards the community, and performs other job related duties as assigned.
1. Ensure the safety and security of the campus visitors and facilities by patrolling the campus in order to observe the conduct and activities that take place on the premises.
