MCC is currently seeking a FABRICATOR in structural steel or sheet metal. Individual will be responsible for the layout, saw cut, shear, cope, bend, drill, punch, weld and otherwise fabricate various metal components out of structural shapes (I-beams, square tubes, angles, flat plates, pipe and solid rounds, while utilizing various types of welding techniques and fabrication procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Prior to welding layout, position, align, and secure parts as individual structural components and complete assemblies; if working with sheet metal will be required to use straight edges, calipers, combinations squares, framing squares, and rulers. * Align and fit parts according to specifications, using various clamps, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers, etc. * Position, align, fit, and weld to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints, and layout specifications, using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools. * Set up and operate fabrication machines, such as saws, rolls, shears, flame cutters, iron workers, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drills; form and assemble metal components. * Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions when necessary * Weld separately, or in combination, using, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, and other occasionally alloys. * Be proficient in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) as required * Capable of working around and using overhead cranes and rigging, as needed. * Maintain good housekeeping habits * Turn in all time, required paperwork; to include vendor tickets, and material requisitions * Operate equipment in a safe manner * Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of the essential duties * Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential duties * Drive a vehicle to various job-sites throughout working hours * Maintain valid driver's license and driving record that meets company policy * Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner * Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance * Perform other duties as assigned Requirements ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS * Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise,dust, toxic chemicals and materials, varying fumes or odors; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavations * Work at heights, such as by working on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, tops of single and multi-story buildings, as well as working in confined spaces such as underneath single story and multi-story buildings * Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs * Must be able to perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including climbing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, standing, and carrying; moving materials and manipulating things * Must be able to work in overhead structures and around and beneath machinery * Considerable physical effort of hands and arms required; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects with considerable weight * Must be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities * Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe manner * This position is subject to ergonomic testing SAFETY SENSITIVE This position is designated as a safety sensitive position because it includes as part of the job duties operating a motor vehicle, the operating, maintaining, and monitoring of heavy equipment and machinery, and working with and around hazardous materials, at heights, and in confined spaces.
