Department: Diagnostic Imaging Schedule/Status: 7:30am-3:30pm; Full Time Standard Hours/Week: 40 General Description: The MRI Technologist reports to CT/MRI Supervisor (if on-site) or DI Supervisor (if off-site) and performs routine and emergent MRI scanning procedures while using careful high magnetic field safety practices. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides all aspects of Magnetic Resonance Imaging care based on established standards.
DEMONSTRATES COMPETENCY in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served evidenced by: The ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; knowledge of growth and development; and understanding of how to compensate technical factors to provide an optimal clinical image for interpretation. Age groups that pertain include: INFANT, PEDIATRIC, ADULT, ADOLESCENT AND GERIATRIC.
Educates the patient prior to performing the procedure and ensures patient questions are answered.
Ensures proper prescreening of all patients for MRI procedures with patient and/or family interviews.
Operates computer to achieve maximum quality scans for an accurate diagnosis.
Administers contrast agents when appropriate using department established criteria and guidelines, computer entry for charge capture and recognition of adverse patient reactions. Completes all necessary documentation related to contrast media use.
Communicates patient needs and/or pertinent assessment information to the radiologist (or other healthcare providers) as it pertains to the exam.
Completes timely and accurate computer entry duties including exam status change, billing additions or corrections, patient tracking time entries, and appropriate ICD-10 codes.
Cleans and stocks MRI Suite as assigned. Cleans MRI equipment and follows infection control guidelines for waste disposal. Reads posted department communications and attends staff meetings.
Prepares and verifies daily function of equipment necessary to perform daily procedures. Performs quality assurance and is responsible for knowing manufacturers safety recommendations for all equipment.
Reports any problems to supervisor.
Coordinates patient scheduling, patient care plans and other diagnostic procedures with nursing units,
physician offices, other Diagnostic Imaging modalities and radiologists.
Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Formal Education:
Associate's Degree or other Two Year College equivalent required.
Military training accepted.
Work Experience:
1 - 2 years of experience preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
Florida DOH in Radiologic Technology (or associate degree or bachelor degree in allied health field with certification in another clinical imaging field (i.e. US, NM, etc))
BCLS through the American Heart Association required.
ARRT certification required.
MRI Registry eligible required within 1 year of hire date.

Position Overview
MRI Technologists utilize their communication, patient care and collaborative skills to interact with patients and other members of the imaging team. The role you'll contribute:
Under general supervision, primary duties include imaging, both neuro and body scans, on patients from neonate to geriatric, following the age specific guidelines of the facilities parameters, transmitting images for diagnostic interpretation, and keeping the hospital computer system up to date with the progress of these exams. The MRI Technologist actively participates in providing outstanding customer services and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all, while implementing the principles of the facility.

· Performs all exams using established protocols. Uses facility policy for proper identification of patient prior to performing exam. Educates patient concerning exam. Properly screens patients for any contrast allergies.
· Completes all exams in a timely manner, keeps workflow moving, and minimizes empty table time. Follows through after completing exam with communication, transportation, and discharge of OPs.
· Performs all types of imaging procedures and operates all equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, monitors, and medical equipment. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to perform scans on patients of all ages, adapting protocols as necessary.
· Reviews all image of all exams, repeating images as necessary to produce best results. If necessary, notify a Physician of emergent findings per established protocol
· Enforces MRI zone entrance and fire safety protocol

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to MRI safety principles. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy and/or physiology for interpretation and/or intervention. • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care. • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures. • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality. • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives. • Assesses the patient's physical condition and age specific needs. • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results. • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient's clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented. • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation. • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. • Applies principles of MRI safety to patients, self, and others. • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks. • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors. • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies. • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipmentto prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases. • Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists. • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately. • Ensures safety of all customers. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
