Job Summary MRI Technologist completes and coordinates MRI examinations to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care and the workflow management of the department, with special attention to MRI safety requirements. Essential Functions Identifies each patient and reviews each physician order for consistence of exam ordered with clinical diagnosis and demographic information. Verbalizes patient identification utilizing patient name and D.O.B. in accordance with hospital and departmental policies. Records pertinent data at all times. Follows established MRI scan protocols and works with radiologist to create new protocols Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease process to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, physicians and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through careful history, allergy and renal function documentation, reconciling medications with the supervising physician, screening for ferromagnetic materials, proper use of support/immobilization devices and proper transport/transfer technique with regard given to the age of the patient. Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examinations to interpreting physician, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following procedure.
