The Youth Ministry Intern (YMI) will assist/support the Youth Ministry Team (YMT) in promoting youth spiritual development, organizing youth services/outreach activities, and administrating records/registrations, He/she reports to the Director of Discipleship and Family Ministry. The youth include middle school through high school students.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Assist with registrations for youth, parents and volunteers as required for events, classes, and camps

The youth ministry is a disciple-making ministry for youth. The youth leader will develop a ministry to win, build, equip, multiply leaders, and send students to reach others. The youth ministry will be consistent with the beliefs, values, and mission of Florence Alliance Church.
Anticipated Time Commitments
Doing ministry/preparing for ministry: 20 hours per week. (Part-time)
Accountability/Mentoring
The youth leader is accountable to the Governing Board for the duties, goals and mission of the youth ministry. The youth leader will report directly to the pastor as the representative of the Governing Board.
The youth leader will work to maintain a spirit of cooperation with other staff, volunteers, the congregation, and parents of the youth.
The pastor and youth leader will meet regularly for prayer, mutual support, encouragement, and guidance.
In addition, the youth leader will network with other youth leader(s) and/or seek out mentoring by an older youth leader.
The initial agreement is for 6 months. Subsequent agreements will be for one year. Near the end of the agreed upon period, the Sr. Pastor will meet with the Youth Leader to give an evaluation and to receive feed back from the Youth Leader. The Board will then decide whether to extend another offer.
Responsibilities
The first responsibility of any disciplemaker is to maintain a close relationship with the Lord. A deepening knowledge of Christ, prayerful dependence on God, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit are necessary characteristics for the servant-leader.
Relationships are key to effective youth ministry. The youth leader will build healthy relationships with the students as a foundation for the ministry.
The youth leader will also develop a good rapport with the parents of the students. Frequent communication is a key component.
He/she will develop and implement a strategic plan for effective ministry to students.
He/she will develop a ministry team with parents and other volunteers.
Because evangelism is a high value, the youth ministry will reach youth outside our church.
The youth leader will equip students to share their faith and to serve the needs of others. Plan opportunities for service to the community/others.
Develop a small group ministry as the core component of the disciplemaking process.
Occasional preaching opportunities and other pastoral duties may be assigned.
Support
The Board will assign an Elder to be a mentor to the youth leader. This is apart from interaction with the pastor. This is for prayer and spiritual support.
Meet with the Pastor as a staff person for encouragement and accountability as often as is deemed prudent (i.e. every other week).
Assign a committee of interested adults/parents. This committee will meet with the youth leader once-a-month (frequency is negotiable). This group will act as a planning team so the youth leader may bounce ideas off of them and receive feedback, encouragement, and support. This is in addition to the youth ministry team.

The Religious Life Intern (Youth Ministry and Religious Life Generalist) reports directly to the Director Religious Life and will assist the Teen Ministry Leader. This is a summer position, beginning in late May and continuing through mid-August, ideally through Labor Day. Although the Religious Life Intern is expected to work during the day, evenings, weekends, and all summer holidays, some free time each day and one-two days off each week will be built into the schedule.
Qualifications, Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (plus other duties as assigned)
The ideal candidate should have a passion for youth ministry, be organized, detail oriented, kind, possess a strong work ethic, and proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Audition, etc.), have a basic working knowledge of Audio-Visual equipment set-up and a vocational interest in some form of Christian ministry. Interest in and training/experience with iPhone videography and editing is also desirable. The preferred candidate will be pursuing a bible, religion, Christian education, youth, or similar discipline bachelor's or master's degree.
Assist in daily/weekly operations of the Religious Life Department, including:
Assist with youth programming, as assigned by the Director of Religious Life.
Assist the Teen Ministry Leader with High School and College-Age Programming, including the daily operation of
The Underground
Teen Center (approx. 20-28 hours per week.)
Assist, as needed, with religious life programming events and tasks, as assigned
Attend Program Staff meetings, as assigned
Possess strong listening skills and ability to relate to individuals across the age spectrum in matters of personal growth, including faith issues
Assist in providing a safe and appropriate atmosphere for all teens and their families.
Ensure customer relations and satisfaction are of highest priority with all staff
Participate in all intern activities, forums, and gatherings throughout the summer

Part time To advance the mission and purpose of InterVarsity as noted above, this position is focused on learning and preparing for the full responsibilities of a Campus Minister. The intern will be assigned work based on skills determined by the application process. This is a one or two-year position in which the individual receives intensive training and exercises ministerial functions consistent with a campus minister. He/she is paid a monthly salary. A supervisory decision, with input from the Ministry Intern, is made at the end of the term of service as to whether the individual is suitable for continuing employment with InterVarsity.

Maintain expenses within allocated budgets
Secure personal financial, prayer support and maintain a ministry among partners who will fund InterVarsity
Develop and implement an annual 30-day plan for raising their personal budget

QUALIFICATIONS

Pay Range: $30,264.00 - $40,356.00 per year
Pay: This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received, including any geographic adjustment to account for location and cost of living, is subject to the individual's ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of such salary within the range set forth in the job posting details.
