The recovery mentor will support participants who have substance abuse and mental health disorders. Working in close partnership community partners, the Recovery Mentor acts as a peer role model and documents the progress for each participant. The Recovery Mentor assists participants in engaging in addiction recovery activities and developing recovery support in various communities. GED/High School Diploma, preferred Working Conditions Environment and Physical Requirements: The Recovery Mentor works in an office environment; however, the position frequently visits field locations including homes, courtrooms, recovery centers, and other indoor and outdoor locations. Those locations are subject to a variety of environmental weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, and dust. The position frequently requires daily travel by car. The Recovery Mentor interacts constantly with staff, visitors, program participants, government agencies, and others. The position stands, walks, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. The incumbent must be able to lift, push, pull and move files and equipment in excess of 15 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, forty hours per week with flexibility in scheduling. The Recovery Mentor also travels extensively and may be required to occasionally work extended hours including evening, weekend and/or holiday work as job duties demand. We are currently seeking an Addiction Recovery Mentor who is a dedicated helping professional. Key responsibilities for this role include establishing connections with individuals seeking assistance, appropriately sharing your lived experience, and providing mentoring services and support. This role involves working both in the office and within the community, offering outreach services, and collaborating with the addictions treatment services team. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Assist and support persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services; refer persons served to appropriate resources; advocate to obtain required services as necessary; provide information and education on wellness-related issues. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Work under the general direction of a clinical supervisor or designee who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision and lead work are not responsibilities of this classification. If an appointing authority assigns an employee to a full spectrum of lead worker duties, the county shall compensate the employee as described in the Marion County Personnel Rules.
