WHAT YOU'LL DO
Mentor Teachers of Record will help to develop corps members in the knowledge, skills, and judgment they will need to become ambitious beginning teacher leaders who build strong relationships with students and lead them to meaningful outcomes.
A Mentor Teacher of Record provides direct coaching, feedback, and thought partnership to a group of corps members and utilizes a variety of coaching strategies - including live coaching, lesson planning support, and observation and debrief - to ensure corps members plan for and deliver rigorous instruction; facilitate a positive, and productive classroom culture and environment; and build strong relationships with students and other educators. The Mentor Teacher may also facilitate pre-scripted learning experiences to help Corps Members synthesize their learning. Candidates for this role have prior experience coaching adult learners. Mentor Teachers work with the program leader or coach in their region and work in-person at a regional Practicum summer school.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Spring Training
Internalize Pre-Service structures, including but not limited to the scope of this role, the schedule, and the approach to coaching
Familiarize self with content and Community Impact sessions in order to understand the development that Corps Members will engage in and apply that to your coaching
Familiarize and customize pre-scripted sessions to be delivered during Pre-Service
Corps Member Training and Practicum
Serve as the Teacher of Record within a classroom, which includes general tasks such as submitting daily attendance, keeping a record of student progress, and taking the lead in the event of an emergency in the classroom.
Mentor and coach a group of corps members by providing regular observation, feedback, and thought partnership. Monitor, observe, and provide daily feedback to corps members in one on one and small group settings.
Support corps members in creating, implementing, and adapting learning environment plans and daily lesson plans, as well as support corps member development in curriculum planning and implementation.
Support the MD, Learning and Development (MDLD or coach) in evaluating corps members' progress toward summer outcomes.
A WEEK IN THE LIFE:
Observing Corps Members (~20 hours per week):
Conferring with coaching team before start of day and after school day to adjust coaching plans
Observe CMs with provided coaching tool
Observation will be based on weekly CM development focus
Observe each CM at least 2-3 times a week (working in coordination with your school to create a clear schedule of observation)
Debriefing Observations & Developing Corps Member Skills (~10 hours per week)
Set time to meet with Corps Members in a 1:1 or group setting (based on CM preference) to debrief observations
Use observation tool to guide conversation
This time may take place after students have left the building for the day
Discuss observation trends with team to align on needed adjustments for coaching
Facilitation of skill sessions that align to CM needs within coaching team
Present for school cultural activities, when schedule allows, to further build rapport and relationships with corps members
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
Bachelor's Degree Required
2+ years of classroom teaching experience and coaching and leading adult learners
Quantifiable success as a classroom teacher, with demonstrated success in reaching outcomes
Experience working with new teachers in professional development settings, including observing other teachers and giving feedback and facilitating group discussions.
Must have a current teaching license in the state in which you are working/teaching.
Available for the entire length of the program and ability to perform job duties in person.
Strong knowledge and understanding of vision for instructional practices
Orientation towards holistic approach to reaching and measuring Broader Student Outcomes (including academic growth, personal growth, access, and social & political consciousness)
Demonstrated ability to provide mentorship and coaching rooted in Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning.

LOCATION
This role will be based in a school in downtown Brooklyn. Hired teachers of record will need to be able to be in-person in Brooklyn (on site) daily during practicum summer school.
DURATION
In the New York Region our Pre-Service calendar includes:
Virtual Programming for corps members mostly led by centralized facilitators on June 9-20
In-person Regional Induction programming welcoming corps members to the New York region, including an introduction to their school sites for the summer practicum on June 30- July 3
In-person practicum at school sites from July 7- August 1, 2025
Mentor Teachers of Record would be asked to attend training in June (virtual in early evenings), and meet in-person with their school team the week of June 30 before the practicum starts daily on July 7.
COMPENSATION
Mentor Teachers of Record are hired by our school partners for the summer. Stipends for $6K will be given by the school site for the role.

Outreach and Client Facing Services (75%)

SCOPE
South Bronx United (SBU) is seeking energetic individuals with a passion for youth development and soccer to join our team of SBU Coach-Mentors. In the position, the individual will serve as a mentor and Head Soccer Coach for a travel team of boys or girls within the SBU Academy Program. As a mentor, the individual serves as the first point of contact for any issues regarding SBU student athletes on the team and as a positive influence promoting education, character, and community. As a coach, the individual will run twice-weekly soccer trainings and coach the team at weekend games. The coach will have the goal of keeping youth active, instilling fun, and helping youth grow as both players and students.
This is a part time position from September to June requiring approximately 8-12 hours/week during the fall and spring seasons. Hours will decrease during the winter off-season (January-February) to 4-6 hours/week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as a Mentor for a team of approximately 20 youth (mentees):
● Serve as first point of staff level contact for the mentees.
● Help plan, set, and keep students on their program schedule.
● Maintain weekly contact with each mentee in person and via phone.
● Maintain regular contact with mentees' parent/guardian.
● Help SBU Education Director monitor student academic performance and assist
in the collection of student report cards, transcripts, and school documents.

), is Upstate New York's Veteran Resource Center serving as a hub of information, programs and services for veterans and their families. The Peer Mentor is responsible for assisting Veterans with integrating back into their community by connecting them with programs and services that will accomplish holistic warrior care. Provide emotional support and referrals for Veterans who are going through a crisis or problematic situation. Function as a positive role model for all Veterans. The Peer Mentor exercises supervision over a small group of staff.
Primary Functions
Respond promptly and with compassion and understanding to inquiries from Veterans.
Answer Veteran/client questions, including researching information to provide complete and accurate responses when necessary.
Assist with potential Veterans that may need employment assistance.
Meet with Regional Manager to review open cases and provide support with overflow caseload as needed.

Job Description

Background:
Since 1999, the IRC has developed partnerships with New York City public schools, community-based organizations and local colleges and universities to support the positive development of refugee youth and their communities in New York City. The Youth Education Department provides year-round programming working directly with refugee youth, their parents and families, and their schools.
Scope of Work:
The Newcomer Youth Summer Academy is a six-week program focusing on preparing newly arrived immigrant youth to succeed at their grade level in the New York City public school system. Up to 130 students ages 5 - 21 from over 20 countries will participate in academic, creative arts, physical education, and social emotional learning classes. Field Trips are held on Fridays.
Peer Mentors support the students' academic and social emotional growth during the Academy. Peer Mentors will be placed with a single class of students for the six-week duration of the Academy, supporting all Classroom Teachers to ensure productive and enriching lessons and to serve as positive role models for students.
Position term: Up to 2 hours of asynchronous training in late June; In-person Training July 1-3, 2025 9:00 am - 4:00 pm; Program dates: July 7 - August 15, 2025.
Hours: From Monday to Thursday, Peer Mentors work either the morning shift (8:00am to 12:00pm) or the afternoon shift (12:00pm to 4:00pm). On Fridays, all Peer Mentors work the full day (8:00am to 4:00pm) to support students and staff on field trips. All Peer Mentors must be available for all training days and for the entire duration of the program. No exceptions.
Major Responsibilities:
* Complete all staff training prior to the start of the program, as well as all program meetings and staff development activities thereafter
* Complete and submit hours on Workday on a bimonthly basis
* Act as a positive role model for students; model appropriate student behavior and academic engagement with the Academy students at all times

* Provide overview of program, department, and agency services through Orientation activities;

Peer Mentor Contract
Peer Mentors of the LSAMP Summer Bridge are trained paraprofessional staff members of the Office of Access, Opportunity and Achievement (OAOA). During the Summer Bridge (SB), Peer Mentors are responsible for assisting pre-first year students with their academic, social, and personal transition into the college environment. Summer Bridge is the transition from high school to college life with the focus on STEM. Peer Mentors support this transition through their specific roles outlined below.
Peer Mentor Role and Responsibilities
In order to facilitate the best experience for the pre-first year students during the SB, Peer Mentors will:
Live in the residence hall along with the pre-first year students in order to help them make a successful transition to residential life.
Peer Mentors will:
Educate students and enforce all residence hall policies and procedures.
Educate students and enforce policies related to drug and alcohol use, as well as Ithaca community standards.
Prepare residence hall for student arrival and complete check-in assignments as required.
Be on overnight on-call status as assigned.
Work closely with a pre-assigned group of pre-first year students monitoring their academic, social, professional and personal development, as well as their acclimation to the program and to IC.
Peer Mentors will:
Serve as a positive role model using appropriate language, exemplifying a positive attitude and modeling behavior expected from students.
Hold one-on-ones with each student and complete contact sheets.
Educate students regarding behaviors that will result in a positive academic experience at IC
i.e. being on time for class; developing study hours; class participation, timely submission of assignments, developing relationships with IC faculty/staff, finding a mentor, etc.
Communicate regularly and disseminate appropriate information to students about SB events and activities.
Attend all SB sessions as assigned.
Work with SB supervising staff on a regular basis.
Peer Mentors will:
Be responsible for the safety and security of office keys. Keys are not to be shared with non-OAOA staff.
Communicate student progress, concerns and issues that arise with the SB staff.
Assist in the preparation and cleanup of SB events.
Chaperone off-campus trips unless otherwise specified by the SB staff.

Clear Path for Veterans, Inc. (
CPV or Clear Path
), is Upstate New York's Veteran Resource Center serving as a hub of information, programs and services for veterans and their families. The Peer Mentor is responsible for assisting Veterans with integrating back into their community by connecting them with programs and services that will accomplish holistic warrior care. Provide emotional support and referrals for Veterans who are going through a crisis or problematic situation. Function as a positive role model for all Veterans. The Peer Mentor exercises supervision over a small group of staff.
Primary Functions
Respond promptly and with compassion and understanding to inquiries from Veterans.
Answer Veteran/client questions, including researching information to provide complete and accurate responses when necessary.
Assist with potential Veterans that may need employment assistance.
Meet with Regional Manager to review open cases and provide support with overflow caseload as needed.
Develop and disseminate reports as necessary including, but not limited to, outreach events, the activities CPV provides to the community, meetings with community partners, detailed categories of Veterans and family members served.
Evaluate Peer Support program effectiveness and efficiency through monitoring all caseloads for the following elements:
