a. Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or
developmentally disabled patient/youth;
b. Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitoring of patient /youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness;
c. Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administer medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, and all
other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure;
d. Work with other disciplines as part of Treatment Team in the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessments in providing an overall treatment program for patient/youth;
e. Assist in the development of group and individual therapy regimens. Act as a provider of group therapy to patient/youth;
f. Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in management of mentally or
developmentally disabled patient/youth;
g. Observe patients'/youths' physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes;
h. Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patient/youth present at their clinical appointments;
i. Assist in first responder duties, such as giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed;
j. Follow completely and accurately all documentation procedures as required
k. Help to create a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patient/youth

Vighter's HCPs work alongside uniformed CBP Agents/Officers at numerous locations near the border in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Florida. The medical staff must be capable of providing health care services for persons of all ages, to include infants, children, adults, and pregnant females. Candidates must be comfortable working in a detention setting. Services may be provided in a field setting with minimal facilities, a soft-sided (tent-type) facility, or a secure detention facility, such as a US Border Patrol Station. Education, Licensure/Certification & Experience:
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as an LCSW. Provide educational trainings to staff on relevant topics to include trauma informed care, psychological first aid, and other topics.
Protect children from situations of abuse, neglect, and other forms of maltreatment while in the custody of CBP.
Focus on ensuring the social, physical, psychological, and emotional well-being of unaccompanied, accompanied, and separated children.
Utilize time management skills to allow for proper management of multiple projects or tasks concurrently.
Produce monthly and annual reports capturing all work (qualitative and quantitative) performed.
Moderate proficiency in, common word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software programs.
Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Expertise in motivational interviewing with minors and adults.
Provide patient referral(s) to CBP contract medical personnel for further assessment.

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:
The CBP mission runs 24/7/365 to protect our country and as such shift schedules for HCPs include: day, night, weekday, weekend, and holidays.

Travel:
This is not a travel position so candidates can be expected to work at alternate worksites within 50 miles of their permanent residence.
