The Lead Counselor will serve as a leader for our college counselors and provide support to our senior leadership team. The candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, extremely comfortable multitasking, and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations but also working closely with our founder and other Lead Counselors, this role requires collaboration across our outreach, operations, and client relations teams to ensure success for both our counselors and clients. The Lead Counselor will be an ambassador for our company, responsible for driving growth through webinars and consultations with potential clients, presenting our services in a compelling manner that resonates with families. The majority of time will be dedicated to clients, supporting students on their journeys, and ensuring the process goes smoothly and deadlines will be met. Team Oversight Assist in the interview process with college counselor candidates, make recommendations about candidates based on overall fit, knowledge base, and alignment with the company's core values Assess new hires' progress throughout training, provide feedback and additional resources Oversee 5-10 counselors, assess staffing needs, and recommend hiring when necessary Share department management responsibilities with other Lead Counselors, such as contributing to the design and implementation of college counselor training and professional development programs Review and evaluate the performance of staffed counselors through check-in meetings, mentorship sessions, and annual reviews, ensuring they are familiar with the company's college tracking system and actively managing clients throughout the process. Provide feedback and direction to counselors who are in need of support, and corrective actions when necessary Business Development Serve as the face of GE College Prep, leading engaging webinars and boot camps that showcase our expertise and highlight the unique value of our counseling services, attracting prospective clients and building brand awareness Conduct one-on-one consultations with potential clients, connecting with them on a personal level while effectively communicating our offerings and demonstrating how our tailored approach can meet their specific needs to facilitate conversions Develop strategies and materials that effectively promote our services and enhance our outreach efforts Build and maintain relationships with high schools and colleges Client Management The Lead Counselor should maintain a caseload of around 50 clients total (potentially more if students are primarily underclassmen, or less if the students are primarily upperclassmen). Ability to make multi-year commitments to their students and meet after school hours and on weekends Determine counselor pairing(s) for each client Serve as the supervisor for direct reports' clients Create/oversee/approve checklist and timeline for each grade Approve all narrative-building and coursework recommendations, college lists, key essay topics, etc. Check-in with the families of direct reports as needed (estimated 1-2 times per year) Oversee the entire college application process for counselors, parents, and students Serve as key escalation point of contact for clients and counselors when issues arise Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree from a Top 50 institution Master's degree in counseling, education, psychology, or a related field preferred Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience in college counseling or educational leadership roles Experience managing teams and working with a diverse student population Deep understanding of the college admissions process, financial aid, scholarships, and standardized testing Skills Strong leadership and team management abilities Exceptional communication, organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Proficiency in using college counseling software and data management tools Ability to work independently and understand when it's appropriate to escalate concerns Natural ability to connect with others and build trust quickly. You can expect a minimum of ten (10) client hours per week, with a maximum of thirty (30) client hours per week. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide mental health services to children, teens, and their families in the clinic. Provide relationship based early intervention services to infants/children and their families in the home, community, and clinic. Establish and maintain strong collaborative and professional relationships with clients and staff. Complete case management for assigned cases. This includes scheduling and managing client hours, gathering resources for clients, requesting additional services, supporting the referral process, and communicating with other service providers. Complete weekly progress notes and periodic progress reports. Participate in weekly supervision, minimum two hours a week of group supervision and one hour a week of individual/triadic supervision. Attend staff meetings, in-services, and training. Deliver Developmental Screeners and Assessments for infants and young children. Participate in IFSP/IPP/IEP meetings for assigned cases, acting as coordinator of information between family and other members of the team. Observe health and safety precautions in all activities.
