Ramirez, Jr. Juvenile Justice Center Mental Health Coordinator position coordinates and supervises both the clinical and the administrative functions of the psychological and social services unit, including delivery of direct mental health services to juveniles housed in the detention center during the course of their stay. These services should address juveniles' needs in order to promote their mental and physical well-being, as well as their safety and security while in custody. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Responsible for the safe and secure transportation of unaccompanied minor(s) and/or families in a humane manner and in accordance with MVM's and federal government customer's established policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Provides orientation to all minors and/or families in a language they understand, explaining the transportation process and answering questions. Reviews all documentation to ensure it contains all information needed for travel. Completes, verifies, and provides required documentation to appropriate parties. Must be able to address and de-escalate, in both controlled and uncontrolled situations, with uncooperative individuals and reports issues to management immediately. Provides approved clothing and hygiene supplies, if required, meals, snacks, and drinks for the minors and/or families for the duration of the transport as required per contract requirements. Completes applicable inspections, to include vehicle safety and security inspections following Standard Operating Procedures. Conducts vehicles inspections, to include Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections, depending on the program. Ensures the safety of all passengers during transport and is responsible for ensuring that all occupants have their own seat and are secured with a seat belt in the vehicle. Ensures that a car seat and/or booster seat are properly installed prior to a minor entering the vehicle. Must maintain “line of sight and sound” supervision of each minor and/or families during transport. Logs transportation details in MVM's proprietary system, such as medication, meals, communication, delays, etc. in milestones at the beginning, during and end of transport. Reports into the Command Center and/or Shared Services and Site at established check points and provides updates on any changes, disruptions, or concerns throughout the transportation route. Records medication for minors in milestones, if applicable, to include the type of medication, the number of times the medication is administered throughout the transport and any irregularities. Must report all emergency situations following company's SOP and processes. Performs visual verification of minors and/or families and matches them to documents provided to confirm identity of traveling minors and/or families. Minimum Qualifications & Skills: Associate degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited college (a high school diploma with one or more years of extra relevant experience may be substituted for an associate degree). Performs substance abuse assessment and counseling for the Alcohol or Other Drugs (AOD) Specialized Treatment Program of youth who have been adjudicated delinquent of felony offenses, committed to the agency by a juvenile court, and placed in a high security correctional facility. Work involves AOD psycho-education/curriculum delivery; individual, family, and group counseling; discharge and release planning; and working with halfway house staff, parole officers, and contract treatment providers to ensure coordination of service delivery. Responsibilities We Are Warriors | We Set the Standards for Child Welfare Work Standards for a Youth Care Worker Conduct intake services for incoming UC to include, but not limited to: completing the necessary paperwork and assessment, providing the UC with an overview of the program services, and assist with the initial placement; assist with new UC orientation Provide basic needs to UC upon arrival to the program, which includes, but is not limited to meal, clothing, hygiene products, shower, bedroom assignment; support routines of UC through assistance and supervision of wake-up, bedtime, personal care, completion of chores, homework, meals, recreational activities, and laundry Perform behavior management, oversee therapeutic activities, and crisis intervention Supervise UC and set appropriate behavior limits in accordance with the UC's individual treatment and behavior plan and ORR standards Provide appropriate intervention to ensure UC safety and well-being; provide 1:1 monitoring of medical, mental health and/or behavioral as directed by management or a member of the clinical or multidisciplinary team Clean, organize, and maintain the UC living space to provide a safe environment Observe UC and provide feedback for the purpose of updating the UC's behavior plans or improving their basic living and environment Conduct regular and consistent 15-minute headcounts of UC under care Youth Care Worker perform other duties as assigned Communication Follow individual plans and behavior support plans to provide appropriate services to UC and document those interactions using designated forms and/or database Ensure all forms and progress notes are properly completed using the necessary forms and/or database to ensure compliance with ORR standards and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements; document planned interventions, behavior incidents, and general observation of UC skills, behaviors, and mood using the appropriate forms Provide the appropriate Therapeutic Crisis Intervention when required or directed by management or a member of the interdisciplinary or treatment team We Are Servants| We Help Others Teamwork Youth Care Workers assist UC's with social skills, anger management, and daily living skills; teach, supervise, and assist residents in achieving their daily goals Assist Unit Manager of being point of contact in the absence of the Shift Supervisor Support, teach and provide UC with a full range of basic care needs, including, but not limited to bathing, feeding, cleaning, shopping, and laundry Work closely with immediate management to plan and implement social and recreational activities for UC Accompany UC on outings and activities to promote community inclusion; accompany and/or transport UC to airport, appointments, outings, and activities using established safety protocol.
