Responsibilities:
Our Director of Nursing (DON) directs all day-to-day operations of the Nursing and Health Services Department to ensure the delivery of quality general and psychiatric nursing care. The patients are in treatment for chemical dependency and psychiatric conditions.
Ensures that nursing policies and procedures are current and reflect the ever-changing standards established by regulatory agencies.
Responsible for staff competence and performance, staff recruitment, staff retention and staff development for all nursing/health services department personnel.
Serves as a key member of the facility's core management team and ensures effective integration or nursing services into overall operations.
Oversees nursing staffing levels within the facility on all shifts to ensure quality patient care.

The Director of Nursing directs all day-to-day operations of the Nursing/Health Services Department and staff to ensure the delivery of quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients in treatment of psychiatric problems including chemical dependency, substance use disorder treatment, addiction recovery, mental health and behavioral health. This position works effectively with the facility leadership team to ensure success of the facility by completing the following core job duties:
Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practices.
Assesses the quality of care rendered.
Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services. Ensures that nursing policies and procedures are current and reflect the ever-changing standards established by regulatory agencies.
Responsible for staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention and staff development for all nursing/health services department personnel.
Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
Serves as a key member of the facility's core management team and ensures effective integration or nursing services into overall operations.
Oversees nursing staffing levels within the facility on all shifts to ensure quality patient care. Understands and incorporates a staffing grid, and flex staffing techniques.
Collaborates with the Infection Control Nurse to incorporate infection control policies and procedures to provide a safe environment for patients and personnel (i.e. reports infections and/or communicable diseases to the appropriate public health authority, provides infection control education for all employees).
Oversees the pharmacy and laboratory services.
Oversees the facility's patient rights program and ensures that all patients are treated with respect and dignity.
Ensures department's budgetary guidelines are maintained. Monitors expenditures in areas of nursing supplies, equipment, and materials.
Provides direct nursing services to include:
Ability to complete appropriate documents within the required timeframe after admission to the program. Maintains medical records.
Ability to administer medications as indicated and monitor detoxification process.
Ability to transcribe Physician orders and implement all Medical Protocols as ordered.
Ability to confer with and assist medical personnel, both internal and external resources.
Ability to provide documentation which reflects services for each patient in accordance with licensure standards.
Ability to assess the medical and psychiatric needs of the patient determine the urgency of their needs and expedite treatment as required.
Ability to effectively communicate concerns about patient health to appropriate personnel and follows up as necessary.
Ability to educate patients about medications, health issues and medical conditions.
Demonstrates ability to take verbal orders from the medical provider, documents them in the patient record and carries them out accurately and professionally.
Participates in facility meetings as required.
Keeps abreast of nursing care issues, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Participates in training and development to enhance own professional skills and growth.
Attends in-service training and participates in other educational activities as required.
Actively participates and adheres to regulatory, licensing and accreditation standards.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Five (5) years' experience in nursing field strongly preferred with emphasis in psychiatric, or substance abuse.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
The physician serves as medical director for skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and participates in administrative and quality initiatives for the facilities he or she is responsible for;

Provider documentation is completed in Theoria's proprietary electronic health record (EHR) system, ChartEasy™

The ideal candidate will have interest in or experience with diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disabilities/disorders including various forms of developmental delay and learning disorders, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, genetic abnormalities, and behavioral disorders. There is an option as well to become the medical director of our multidisciplinary ADHD clinic.
Responsibilities will include teaching residents and fellows in both outpatient settings and maintaining a clinical schedule. If the applicant is interested, they could also become the medical director. The Medical Director responsibilities will include clinical and administrative leadership of the ADHD Clinic. Additional Duties Include:
Manages the accounting functions of the Mental Health Center; supervises the recording of all accounting transactions and general ledger system used for financial reporting to the Mental Health Advisory Board, State, BOCC and Mental Health management; supervises the accounts payable and receivable functions. Prepares, monitors and coordinated the budget process with the Assistant Mental Health Director; reviews/adjusts salary worksheets for budget staff; develops budgets for various program areas; prepares budget reports for Budget staff to present to BOCC; monitors budget throughout the year through financial reporting.
Manages all grant and state budget preparation and reporting; monitors grant expenditures on a monthly basis and coordinates preparation of all monthly grant financial reports; coordinates year-end grant reports used by FMA for year-end single audit requirements; reviews/analyzes external auditor grant financial reports for accuracy.
Coordinates purchasing transactions; prepares bid and RFP process; ensures all purchasing policies are followed and appropriate competition is obtained and documented; monitors the appropriateness of purchases; reviews purchasing transactions to ensure Term and Supply contracts are used whenever possible; coordinates contract development with Purchasing and Legal.

The Assistant Medical Director is a senior member of the MBTA Occupational Health Services department and is responsible for assisting in directing the MBTA Medical Department. Provide leadership in occupational health policy, programs, and issues, including medical standards for employment. In addition to assisting oversight of the MBTA Medical Clinic, the Assistant Director will assist in the MBTA NON-TREATING medical clinic to facilitate physical assessment of MBTA employees/applicants for fitness for duty. Perform Physical examinations to determine fitness for work and/or hire.
* Serve as Medical Examiner and perform Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations.
* Perform physical exams including DOT, non-DOT, pre-employment, and annuals as required by regulation and policy.
* Ensures that the OHS programs are compliant with governmental and regulatory requirements.
* Interpret tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to determine applicant/employee fit for work status.
* Notate findings in applicant/employee electronic chart including follow-up notes.

* Assist in instructing members of the clinical team regarding EKG interpretation and technical aspects of taking EKGs.
* Engage with staff to provide feedback and coaching in a positive and proactive manner and exemplifying the role of an occupational health professional.
* Prepare cases and appear as an expert medical witness in arbitrations and unemployment insurance. Provide testimony and appear in court for the Law Department as needed.
* Work closely with the Employee Assistance Program to monitor Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) and mental health conditions for treatment compliance and fitness for duty.
* Regularly engage in case and chart review and have a systematic approach to performance review that incorporates evaluating the OHS services provided by each staff. As needed, develop a corrective action, coaching and monitoring plan to address areas of concern identified in performance evaluation.
* Annually defines and regularly tracks performance goals for OHS.
* Develops policies and procedures for Medical Operations and ensures staff are trained and adhere to them.
