Short Description
A nonexempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties in various ambulatory
settings, including primary, multi-specialty, specialty practices.
May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting providers
with patient care, and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical
services.
Maintains working knowledge of regulatory standards and is accountable to sustain these
standards in daily operations.
Clinical direction, oversight and competency review is provided by medical providers and
ambulatory professional development team in coordination with office management.
Experience Required
Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.
Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection experience.
Epic experience preferred.
Excellent organizational, written/verbal communication and teamwork skills.
Demonstrated performance of excellent customer service skills.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
License/Certification Requirements
Graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by NJAC(13:35-6.4) approved certifying body AND current certification from a recognized certifying board approved by NJ Board of Medical Examiners. What you will do:
Escort patients from processing room to the exam room. Take a history of visit and chief complaints.

Perform dipstick Urinalysis (OB), Head circ, vision and hearing (Pediatrics). Documents all findings in patient's chart in EMR.
Translate for the provider as needed or assist with the language line.
Keep patient flow to the provider constant, attending to the provider's needs for assistance and supplies as required, as indicated by feedback.
Prepare patient exam rooms and assist providers during exams as requested.
Clean and disinfect exam room after each patient and prepare rooms for next patient.
Discharge patient and schedule next appointment.
Maintain logbooks as designated in each department.
Request referrals and give patient contact, prescription, x-ray, or lab requisitions ensuring process is complete.
Provide for patient's comfort, safety and hygiene.
Identify all patients using two indicators (name and date of birth) prior to administering care.
Ensure patient care equipment is clean and properly stored.
Inventory stock in each department and order supplies weekly with the supervision and approval of the nurse.

Maintain CPR certification as evidenced by valid card.
Attend all mandatory in-service sessions.
