ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Discusses and records patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in the medical record.
Prepares patients for examination and performs routine screening tests; assists physician with exams; explains treatment procedures, medications, diet and physicians' instructions to patient; provides disease specific patient education.
Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens; performs waived lab tests.
Prepares and administers medications ordered by the physician, fill pill boxes as ordered by the physician, changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures, performs IV Therapy in accordance with State Practice act; uses CPR skills when necessary
Screens calls and walk ins; collects pertinent clinical information and relays it to the physician, implements orders as appropriate and documents observations and interventions in the medical record.
Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments; practices OSHA safety standards; performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
Upon physician approval and authorization, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology; and follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct; Complete internal certification to use the ChenMed Rx system to support physician medication dispensing.
Processes patient phone messages, returning calls and routing them to other team members as appropriate; calls patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
This position requires 5-10% of travel time.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position may require some local travel to assist in covering other centers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:
High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required
Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e. foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) required
A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician or similar in a hospital, medical clinic or comparable environment OR documented clinical rotation training can be substituted for work experience
BLS for Healthcare Providers required
Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
EMR system experience preferred

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Respiratory Care Interns or student will develop the ability to gain additional clinical experience and knowledge prior to the completion of their education in a CoARC approved Respiratory Care program and their subsequent credentialing as a licensed Respiratory Care Professional (RCP). Qualifications:
* Must be certified Medical Assistant. In lieu of certification at hire, must have successfully completed a medical assistant training program or have two years of experience as a Medical Assistant (eq. Army Medic, Navy Corpsman) at hire.
* For those that have completed a medical assistant training program or have two years of experience, must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 18 months of hire.
* Incumbents hired before March 2021 may be considered grandfathered in terms of education. Should an incumbent obtain the Medical Assistant certification, it would be considered a requirement of their role moving forward.
* AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
* Proficiency in basic clinical skills as required by specialty (i.e. phlebotomy, blood pressure, EKG, injections) required.

What You'll Do
Strive's Medical Assistants (MAs) play a critical role in supporting quality patient care. The MA will perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the high-quality compassionate kidney care provided to our patients. The Day to Day

Enters documentation in the patient's medical record by inputting medications, labs, patient demographics and history, screening data, care documentation, and pharmacy information.

Supports Nurse Practitioners for visits, follow up tasks including patient outreach, educational materials, DME etc.
Serves patients and performs patient visits in multiple care settings as defined by role including patient home, clinics, partner MD space, and via telehealth/virtual visits.

Minimum Qualifications
2+ years combined of related education, experience, or certification.
Graduate from a medical assistant program such as Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) Medical Assistant Program, OR Graduate of a formal medical assistant program.
Current BLS or CPR Certification required.
Efficient and reliable transportation, including an active driver's license, allowing for the ability to travel across an assigned region to meet patient needs. Locations may include offices, clinics, and patient homes.

Location: Work takes place in a normal office/clinical environment. Travel to other locations may be necessary to fulfill essential duties and responsibilities of the job. Thus, those needing to travel for work must have access to dependable transportation, and driving record must meet company liability carrier standards.
Exposure: Works in normal office environment during normal business hours. May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids. May also be exposed to various cleaning supplies.
Equipment: Regularly uses Optometric equipment/devices per sub-specialty requirement such as lensometer; keratometer/autorefractor; phoropter; visual acuity measuring; retinal camera; corneal topography unit; retinoscope; telephone, computer, fax, printer and copier. Other equipment may be used as needed. Must be able to work with precise tools and equipment; must have dexterity to use these items correctly and safely. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment.

What will you do?As a Medical Assistant, you'll be the welcoming face of our clinic, ensuring each patient feels valued and cared for. You will do things like:
Obtain and document patient history
Follow office workup protocols
Determine visual acuity
Perform automated refractions
Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by a physician
Perform office duties and clinical tasks - enter data into EMR, provide patient services
Measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry)
Pre-operative preparation of patient
Maintain equipment and instruments
