Essential Duties and Qualifications Virginia Health Services is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant at York Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a Long Term Care and Rehab Center located in Yorktown, VA! The Certified Medical Assistant has the following responsibilities: Promoting and demonstrating exceptional customer service, including greeting residents and visitors. Scheduling and managing patient appointments and transportation. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment while complying with facility policy, regulations and current infection control practices. Effectively communicating with providers and their staff, insurance companies, and families related to non-nursing matters. Assisting in preparing, organizing and filing documents in medical charts, both paper and electronic format. (ex. Lab results, admissions, discharge, and transportation related documents) Organizing and maintaining medical supplied on the nursing units, cleaning and disinfecting medical equipment. Understanding and assisting with staffing procedures. Answering and directing phone calls. Carrying out clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs or glucometer checks. Appropriately documenting in resident's medical records. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent degree is required. Medical Assistant certification required. Knowledge of medical terminology. Healthcare facility experience is preferred. Basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office. Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information, Experience maintaining a professional level of patient privacy in accordance with HIPPA procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills when speaking with patients, facility staff, and visitors, and physicians. Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials, must abide by infection control standards including wearing required PPE.
