Principal Functions and Responsibilities Call patients into rooms for examinations. Perform weight check, height measurement, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration readings as needed. Verify with each patient their date of birth, their current phone number, address and insurance information, and update charts so that all necessary information is current and accurate Review patient's medical record. Record and obtain patient's symptoms, make observations, listen, answer questions and reassure. Obtain past medical history and family history as appropriate. Review current medication and review patient allergies. Record all of the above in the patient's chart, and sign. Assist physicians and physician assistants with examinations as necessary. Lift patients on and off exam tables and in and out of wheelchairs. Set up procedures to be done, i.e., remove lesions, suture wounds, cast fractures, dress burns. Explain procedures to patients and instruct on follow-up care.
