Positioning and leveling system equipment, integrating and interfacing 3rd party functionalities into the packaging lines

Surly Brewing manufactures beer and other beverages in cans and kegs for themselves and their contract partners. We operate two separate production facilities and a third repacking location. This role supports the production departments through troubleshooting and repairing equipment. Packaging includes canning lines, kegging lines, tunnel pasteurizers, cartoners, handles applicators, tray packers, low fill inspection systems, date code application systems and palletizing machines. Brewing includes multiple brew houses that range from manual to automated. Across both departments there are many styles of pumps and automation systems.

Position Summary:
Forklift Mechanics are responsible for safely and efficiently maintaining and repairing Dohrn forklifts.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services
• Support the tire maintenance program
• Perform service calls
• Wash and fuel equipment
• Perform other maintenance duties or assignments
• Provide assistance to senior technicians
• Lead the care and upkeep of the Maintenance Shop, grounds, and all equipment and tools
• Maintain a clean, safe environment that complies with DOT, EPA, OSHA and company standards
• Complete all required documentation and keep records
• In conjunction with the Parts Department, assure that all necessary materials, parts, service/shop supplies are maintained at proper quantity levels
• Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• A minimum age of 18
• High School completion or equivalent
• Valid Driver License
• Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Must pass a NON-Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and functional screen NOTE: CDL-qualified mechanics will be subject to a DOT physical examination
• Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen; Dohrn Transfer must receive a negative result
• Experience with forklift maintenance is preferred
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment is required
• Must have previous experience maintaining detailed and routine record keeping
• Manual dexterity required
• Must possess knowledge of occupational hazards & standard safety precautions
• Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate to both internal and external customers
• Ability to work in a team as well as independently
• Excellent attendance
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
• Overtime may be necessary during peak periods; Must be able to work a varied schedule or travel based on need
