The Fleet technician 3 will diagnose, adjust and repair all series of class 8 tractor and trailing fleet equipment including, but not limited to the following: diesel engines, electrical, brake, cooling systems, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, power dividers, starters, alternators, air conditioning systems, DPF systems, aftertreatment devices, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering systems, and steering. Conduct Preventive Maintenance (PM) services and repair tires as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
Comply with all safety and best practices and follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of - with no assistance: diesel engines, power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, wheel ends. Electrical systems including starters, alternators and lights. HVAC systems. Steering systems. Electronics to include ECM's, ECU's, sensors etc. Engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, cooling system etc. Brake systems including ABS & air disk brakes. Suspension systems (spring and air) including tire issues, and after treatment devices such as DPF and DOC. Perform electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance and preform complete vehicle diagnosis.
Performs all levels of preventive maintenance services on truck and trailing equipment.
Perform mechanical and general appearance reconditioning of equipment for "trade-ins" and prepare new equipment for delivery.
Must be annual vehicle inspector certified and brake inspector certified (per DOT requirements).
Successfully demonstrate welding skills (mig, tig) in non-standard situations and on varying materials as needed. (AU and steel)
Advanced skills with diagnostic software for Detroit DD15 engines, and DEF/after treatment repairs.
Proficient with windows-based computer systems and ability to use diagnostic software.
Identify and perform warrantable repairs and document on repair order.
Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
Maintain work area appearance and safely.
Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
Perform duties with no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmissions and differentials and fifth wheels, to include replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components etc.
Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Provide directions and repair instructions and to mentor other technicians as needed.
Ensure compliance with DOT standards and properly document work completed.
Proficiently enter and process all transactions within the maintenance system.
Assist the with fleet analyses, action development and stances.
Complete or assist with miscellaneous projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
6 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational / Technical or certification preferred.
Demonstrated customer service and relationship building skills.
Expert understanding of fleet maintenance policies, DOT standards and industry practices.
Organized with the ability to deal with multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.
Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses required (FRTL or INTL), ASE Certification preferred, and 608/609 certifications preferred.
Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools) required.
Clean MVR required and able to operate service truck preferred.
Strong work ethic.
Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and written, and can read and understand English.
Demonstrated ability to recommend continuous improvement ideas and actions.
Results orientated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Proficiency with computers.
A valid driver's license is required.
Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions required.

About You:
Qualifications
Must have five years of experience in general heavy truck repair, automotive repair, or equipment repair; equivalent trade school/technical school time may be applied toward this requirement OR have completed a vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in vehicle and equipment repair and have four years of experience.
Must be capable of operating company vehicles and equipment on a daily basis. Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and good DAC Report.
A valid Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) is desired but not required.

THE ROLE
Responsible for mechanical maintenance services; maintains, inspects and repairs equipment and vehicles to ensure safety and on-going operation.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
* Diagnoses, tests and repairs vehicles and/or heavy landfill equipment including, but not limited to, powertrains and drivetrains, as well as electrical, steering, braking, exhaust and suspension systems.
* Diagnoses, tests and repairs refuse vehicle and transfer trailer body systems including, but not limited to, hydraulic, body control, electrical and body mechanical systems.
* Diagnoses, tests, repairs and maintains processing equipment such as balers, conveyors, hoppers, electric motors and controls, as well as maintenance shop and company facilities.
* Performs basic fabrication work using welding equipment, torches, tools and/or machinery.
* Orders and maintains shop parts, tools, equipment and supplies.

* Acts as a lead worker by regularly instructing and directing others by assigning, reviewing and checking work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
* Four years of progressively responsible mechanical experience as a journeyman mechanic (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
* Waste and recycling industry experience preferred.
* Experience and knowledge of DOT Out-of-Service Criteria including CHP B.I.T. Inspections and DOT compliance audits.
* Experience working in a maintenance facility or related environment with vehicles, processing equipment such as: balers, conveyors, hoppers, electric motors and landfill equipment preferred.
* Expert knowledge of diesel and/or compressed natural gas engines, heavy equipment mechanical components and parts, as well as fabrication tools and techniques.
* Knowledge of alternating and direct current electrical controls and motor systems.
* Knowledge of federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices; understanding of potential job hazards.

Diesel Technicians work in a fast-paced environment and maintain clean places with friendly faces. You will interact with customers & drivers from all over, making their travels and their day better.
Job Functions:
Troubleshoot and repair light mechanical issues that may include wheel-end assemblies, electrical systems, suspensions, A/C, or engine components
Assist customers with roadside services
Provide preventative maintenance services
Ability to move, lift 75+ pounds working in close quarters. Ability to work in various temperatures.
Always put the safety and satisfaction of your customers first, complying with company safety policies & procedures.
Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed.
Ability to obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation. (paid by Loves)

We are looking for a skilled mechanic to troubleshoot, repair and maintain a fleet of forklifts and log stackers. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems in rolling stock.
* Must be at least 18 years old
* Must pass company alcohol and drug screening test
* Ability to safely troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems in a timely manner
* 2 years in automotive or heavy equipment repair industry
* Maintains and repairs all aspects of jitneys used in mill
* Able to lift/carry/push up to 50 pounds
* Must have good communication skills
* Examine parts for damage or excessive wear
* Weld broken parts and structural members
* Attend all safety and crew meetings
Preferred:
* Post-secondary or trade related education
* LP license
* Class A CDL
