Usually, mechanics don't need a college education. The most common degree for mechanics is high school diploma with 42% graduates, with only 24% mechanic graduates earning associate degree. Mechanics who decided to graduate from college often finish University of Phoenix or University of Northwestern Ohio. Some good skills to have in this position include hand tools, preventive maintenance and customer service.
