Employees in this job perform a variety of activities designed to service, repair and maintain pieces of County owned heavy equipment. The work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge and specific certifications that denote expertise in heavy equipment maintenance.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Analyzes various engine equipment. * Repairs / maintains automobiles and other mechanical equipment. * Operates precinct vehicles as needed (i.e. front end loader, motorgrader) * Diagnoses engine trouble codes. * Troubleshoots electrical circuits. * Rebuilds various component parts. * Performs flat repairs, mounting, balancing, and tire rotations. * Perform highly skilled and complex mechanical repairs on both light and heavy equipment such as trucks, loaders, rollers, graders, bulldozers, gradalls, and tractors. * Inspect equipment, analyze trouble and plan sequence of repair operations. * Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups. * Performs all work in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, County and department policies and procedures, and standards of quality and safety. * Diagnose mechanical defects accurately and make necessary repairs to equipment in a timely manner. * Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and equipment operators * Regular attendance and timeliness is required * Must be organized and mindful of the shop, tools, and equipment. Seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes/odors, dirt/dust, wetness and humidity. Communicates with employees and elected officials. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Incumbent drives on surface streets and operates equipment on unpaved surfaces to diagnose mechanical problems; works around machinery and equipment; and risks exposure to traffic hazards, electrical currents, adverse weather conditions, temperature and noise extremes, wetness, humidity, heights, fumes, dusts, odors, solvents, grease/oil, skin irritants, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration. PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS: * Reading, speaking, lifting, bending, standing, walking, sitting, while repairing equipment, automobiles, and diesel trucks. * Ability to see and hear hazards associated with the operation of construction equipment. * Communicating by radio and telephone. * Other physical efforts as required. The Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the M2/M3, A2/A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the M6 Bradley Linebacker Air Defense Vehicle, and the M-7 Bradley Fire Support Team Vehicle. **Responsibilities** + Troubleshoot minor technical issues and document problems. + Develop procedures and communicate recommended corrective actions to customers. + Assist in planning, estimating, and scheduling required personnel and equipment for assigned field service projects. + Analyze system deficiencies and provide input for recommended design changes to engineering. + Assemble, install, test, maintain, and repair products to ensure compliance with customer requirements. + Resolve sensitive field service issues such as scheduling conflicts and funding concerns with customers. + Conduct pre-overhaul inspections and prepare discrepancy reports. + Serve as the point of contact with customers, suppliers, and division management regarding schedules, technical issues, and administrative matters. + Maintain configuration control databases and manage logistical functions for assigned field service projects. **Essential Skills** + **Basic mechanical experience.** + Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems. + Experience in engine repair and tune-ups. + Ability to repair and replace body panels, fenders, power packs, weapons systems, and radiators. + Proficiency in Microsoft Applications. + Ability to work in an outside environment on a daily basis. + 2+ years of mechanic experience. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Prior military experience preferred. + Bradley and heavy equipment experience preferred. + 91M Bradley Systems Maintainer certification preferred. + 91H Tracked Vehicle Mechanic certification preferred. **Why Work Here?** We offer a long-term contract opportunity with stability and growth potential.
