Under supervision, to perform a variety of journey-level tasks related to the maintenance, inspection, and repair of elevators and auxiliary equipment, including electrical circuitry. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed. * Inspects, services, repairs, adjusts, and maintains elevators and auxiliary equipment; * Checks electrical control and signal systems, hoisting mechanisms and cables, motors, guide rails, brakes, doors, and safety devices; * Checks temperature and moisture levels; * Oils and greases moving parts, such as fly-ball governors, pulleys, and runners; * Overhauls and cleans mechanical governors and hoists; * Replaces and tightens bearings and bushings; * Vacuums and cleans selector boards and cleans and replaces capacitors, coils, contacts, brushers, relays, switches, pneumatic timers, solenoids, runners, and elevator doors; * Adjusts and levels timing devices, ensuring that elevators stop at the proper levels on each floor; * Overhauls mechanical auxiliary equipment; * Repairs electrical circuitry; * Prepares cost estimates, job layouts, and materials requisitions; * Creates and maintains records; * May monitor the work of contractors; * May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW), as required*; * Performs other related duties, as required.
