You can earn up to an $80,000 guaranteed annual salary plus production bonuses. Responsibilities Receive repair orders from dispatcher and acquire keys to vehicle. Diagnose cause of malfunctions and perform repairs. Communicate with the parts department for any needed parts. Perform a thorough safety check and multi point inspection to determine if any additional service work is required. Advise Service Consultant if repairs cannot be completed within time promised. Document a detailed description of the repair(s) performed to dealer and manufacturer standards. Road test vehicles as required. Notify shop foreman of any test drives that will take longer than 10 minutes. Verify that all repairs completed are correct and safe for vehicle return. Ensure the customers vehicle is kept protected and clean during the repair process. Wipe down any dirt or grease before sending the vehicle to car wash. Keep stall area neat and keep floors free from spills or slippery fluids. Mop as needed. Qualifications High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) is required. Valid Driver License and clean driving record. Ability to read and comprehend instruction and information. Ability to use a computer to search for bulletins or technical information. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to provide your own tools. (All manufacturer specific/special tools will be supplied by the dealer to share) ASE certification is preferred. Trouble shoots mechanical and automated computer-controlled systems used in the manufacturing departments by performing the following duties. Operates machine tools to assure proper sequence and accurate operation. Makes control adjustments and makes a noted record of change in logbooks, where applicable. Performs welding and sheet metal operations as required. Evaluates safe guard placement and protection of equipment for production personnel. Inspects equipment and tests performance of equipment following repairs, checks for correct dimensional accuracy and visible material part defect acceptability. Performs most complex repairs independently with little or no supervision. Performs equipment and control problem diagnosis in a timely manner. Plans and coordinates major equipment repairs, requisitions needed replacement parts and utilizes alternate sources to meet production needs. May diagnose electronic control problems to circuit board. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Informed and utilizes Lock Out and Tag Out procedures. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None, although will assist leaders in training, mentoring, and developing lower-level Maintenance Mechanics and apprentices. Job Responsibilities Examines and diagnoses vehicle problems, and repairs according to generally accepted methods Discusses extensive or difficult in-depth repairs with Terminal Manager, and/or Supervisor Demonstrate and enforces CEMEX safety policies and regulations to all mechanics (i.e. lockout tagout policies, hazard assessment) Make sure shop and all repairs are in compliance with OSHA regulations Performs routine scheduled maintenance outlined on PM checklist sheets Plans all routine work procedures Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical components for removal, repair or inspection Removes components for repair of replacement such as, but not limited to: alternators, starters, water pumps, radiators, condensers, compressors, clutches, transmissions, differentials, wheel assemblies, brakes, drivelines, gearboxes, pump, rollers, etc Disassembles components, inspects parts for wear, and determines cause of failure Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic systems, and components Inspects and replaces parts such as clutches, wheel seals, brake linings, drums, bearings, and all other components as described above Overhauls and rebuilds serviceable components Some regional traveling required to repair company equipment Diagnoses and repairs electrical systems and circuitry in accordance with acceptable industry standards Performs occasional cutting and welding utilizing both gas and electric welding equipment Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wiper blades Enters work orders on system for equipment inventory purposes Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds Meet or exceed company safety standards Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 3 years related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience High school diploma or equivalent 3 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Able to understand, interpret, communicate, and execute with exactness instructions given in both verbal and written form Bi-lingual Spanish a plus Able to recognize potentially hazardous situations, understanding instructions given by supervisor, possess common sense Ability to deal with mechanical problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Possession of valid Driver's License; prefer Class A or Class B CDL or the ability to obtain such a license within the new employee evaluation period (180 days) with driving record that meets company requirements in order to retrieve or test drive company commercial vehicles Forklift certified or willing to obtain TWIC preferred or willing to obtain Working Conditions Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time Physical Requirements Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
