Qualifications
Masters Degree and/or Teaching Credential
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience

Experience implementing Reading, Writing, Word Study/Phonics and Math Workshops
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and other educational technologies
Experience creating curriculum and implementing project-based learning

POSITION PURPOSE: Polytechnic School is looking for an experienced and dynamic 6th-grade math teacher who, above all, loves working with Middle School students and values and affirms the unique contributions of each child in the school community. Poly's 6th-grade math is a fast-paced and rigorous pre-algebra course. Students develop conceptual understanding, mathematical fluency, and good habits of study in preparation for 7th-grade mathematics study. The successful candidate will join a math department that values collegiality, flexibility, and views as its mission to help students become mathematically literate and appreciate and enjoy problem solving and critical thinking.
Reporting to the director of the Middle School, the successful candidate will take a student-centered approach to all school work and will use the school's mission to design and support the academic, extracurricular, social, and emotional success of students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach four courses per academic semester/year plus serving as an advisor;
Collaborate with other members of the math department to prepare course materials including syllabi, assignments, assessments, and supplementary materials;
Administration and evaluation of class work, assignments, and assessments in a timely manner;
Preparation and maintenance of student attendance records, grades, comments, and other required records;
Engage robustly in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment;
Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction;
Provide assistance and advice to students during free periods and before and after school;
Collaboration with members of the math department, the Middle School faculty, and the entire K-12 community.
Regular participation in professional development opportunities to maintain and grow both expertise in the subject matter and inclusive pedagogical practices;

Qualifications
BA/BS degree. Advanced degree(s) preferred;
