Have taught the subject or grade level and hold an appropriate credential for the subject. 2. Have experience consistent with the summer school courses approved by the Board of Trustees, which use current methods, techniques, or approaches, especially in courses for students who have been unable to succeed in regular classrooms. 3. All teacher applicants must be available to teach the entire summer session, including teacher prep days prior to the start of the summer session. 4. Since Summer positions are additional assignments and not part of the regular contractual school year, jury duty, vacations and conference attendance will need to be postponed until after the summer session. 5. If a teacher misses 2 or more days or fails to notify the administrator, the teacher may be released. 6. Employment is dependent upon sufficient student enrollment throughout the entire summer session. JOB SUMMARY Successful candidates will provide high-quality supervision and mentoring to student teachers and intern teachers. They will also participate in program events, training, meetings, attend new student teacher orientation and university supervisor professional development. The supervisor will further establish and maintain positive relationships among the resident teachers, credential programs and the Teacher Education and Foundations Department. TYPICAL ACTIVITIES • Supervise student teachers at school sites on bi-weekly basis and debrief with them • Mentor student teachers • Conduct mid-term and final evaluations and post their grades in a timely manner. • Assist student teachers with the CalTPA • Assist student teachers with the New Literacy Standards • Respond to general questions from students • Participate in the Supervisor Learning Community and Networking • Assist student teachers in dealing with day-to-day problems they may have in the classroom.
