Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior and academic achievement. 2. Keeps abreast of developments in Special Education curriculum, instruction, law, and regulations and disseminates information to Principals and student services staff. 3. Prepares and attends Individual Education Plan meetings 4. Monitors and assures special education regulation compliance in all special education files. 5. Ensures implementation of a working Child Study process in client school(s). 6. Works with Title I Coordinators to review and create action plans regarding the intervention programs at school. 7. Applies positive customer service to the role and is perceived as a team member by staff and school employees. 8. Maintains a high level of confidentiality concerning sensitive information. 9. Follows procedures for safe storing and integrity of all public and confidential school records. 10. Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel. 11. Report incidents regarding violence, vandalism, attendance and discipline matters to the Assistant Principal or Principal. 12. Notifies immediately appropriate personnel and agencies when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or students appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. 13. Report incidents regarding violence, vandalism, attendance and discipline matters to Administration. 14. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and /or courses as required by the supervisor. 15. Refrain from personal cell phone and personal Internet usage during class hours. 16. Performs such other related tasks and assumes such other related responsibilities as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Job Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's Degree in education, concentration in special education or field of study related to special education. 2. Special Education Certification (Required) 3. Must hold a valid MI teaching certificate with a K-12 endorsement in an area of special education. 4. Be able to manage and consult as lead in special education department. 5. Experience conducting IEPs, state reporting, and documentation 6. Three or more years work experience with special education students. 7. Strong interpersonal skills. 8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 9. Experience with Special Education compliance with MDE and Federal regulations. 10. Experience with technology and Microsoft Office software. 11. Ability to interact with students, parents and staff in a positive and productive manner. 12. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. 13. Ability to work a flexible schedule as required. 14. Valid Michigan Driver's License. Incumbent must also have reliable means of transportation to travel to various locations outside of the office. 15. Must complete FBI fingerprinting and a satisfactory criminal background check must be received, as well as successful unprofessional conduct check.     Reports To: Summer School Coordinator June 30 - July 31, 2025, 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., plus required training. Compensation: $4,160 ($40.00 per hour for 104 Hours) Mandatory Training: Teachers must attend paid virtual training at the MISD (see below): Literacy Training - 1 date June 10, 4:30 - 7:30 pm June 11, 4:30 - 7:30 pm June 16, 12:00 - 3:00 pm June 17, 8:30 - 11:30 (if needed) Math Training - 1 date June 10, 4:30 - 7:30 June 12, 4:30 - 7:30 June 16, 8:30 - 11:30 June 17, 12:00 - 3:00 (if needed) Summary of Duties: To help students learn Literacy and Math content using curriculum provided by the Macomb Intermediate School District. To help students develop literacy and math skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women who live in a global society. The summer camp will run from 8:30 - 12:30 with breakfast in the classroom and lunch provided from 12:30 - 12:45. Schedule: Column1 Calendar M T W TH F Staff Meeting TBD WK1 6/30 - 7/3 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 WK2 7/7 - 7/10 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 WK3 7/14 - 7/17 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 WK4 7/21 - 7/24 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 WK5 7/28 - 7/31 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 8:30 - 1:30 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide effective instructional methods based on a daily schedule of curriculum Administer Pre and Post tests Maintain lesson plans Plan appropriate instruction based on assessment data Differentiate instruction and accommodates the needs of all learners Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students Sets clear classroom expectations for academics and behavior Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curricular goals; establishes clear purpose and expectations for all lessons, units, projects and communicates the expectations to students Teachers need to be on site 45 minutes prior to camp start time and stay 30 minutes after camp dismisses for planning time and help oversee drop-off/pick-up and meal services. Monitor students when exiting and entering bus transportation Monitor and supervise students during breakfast and lunch Assesses and evaluates students' academic achievement on a weekly basis and promotes students as they accomplish their learning goals; keeps accurate records of student achievement; prepares reports of progress for students and parents Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes Performs other duties as assigned by the Summer School Coordinator The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree; Masters Preferred; Early Elementary Experience; Early Childhood Endorsement Preferred, Enthusiastic, Energetic, and Positive Professional Attitude Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Elementary Teaching Certificate Communication Skills: Read, analyze, and interpret materials including assessment materials. Write with clarity. Effectively present or facilitate information and respond to questions from groups. Reasoning Ability: Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement differentiated lessons based on school expectations and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
