Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm; additional time as needed for after-school meetings, events, duties, and professional development.
Responsibilities:
Teach daily grade-level math classes within different content strands based on students' cognitive needs
Utilize appropriate instructional strategies that balance content mastery, conceptual understanding, and the development of mathematical literacy
Employ differentiated, student-centered teaching practices rooted in brain-based research
Develop engaging formative and summative assessments along with other experiences to assess student learning
Create and scaffold collaborative tasks that emphasize critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and problem-solving skills appropriate for the development of adolescent learners
Implement classroom management techniques that align with the school's culture
Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students through a variety of means, including face-to-face conversations, phone calls, emails, texts, and conferences

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach four academic classes in history
Serve as an advisor to ten to fifteen upper school students
Work collaboratively within teaching teams to develop unit plans and assessments
Serve as a member of the History and Social Sciences Department, attending departmental meetings, developing and updating course curricula, and supporting the work of the department
Sponsor of a club, affinity group, student government, or a student leadership organization
Maintain regular office hours starting at 7:30 am
Facilitate open, informative, and friendly communications with students and parents both verbally and in writing
Participate in Interim Term during the month of January
Engage in the school community by attending programs and events outside of department, such as athletic competitions, art events, or all-school community programs
Prioritize professional development and remaining current in the field of effective teaching
Commitment to model Kinkaid's mission and four core values (honesty, responsibility, respect, and kindness) in interactions with all members of the community
Demonstrate collegiality and high professional standards
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in history or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
Experience teaching upper school students with mastery in effectively delivering history content
Enjoyment in teaching students across the entire range of grades (9-12)
Core knowledge about the development of upper school age children
