Lynden Transport is looking for a Freight Handler. This is a warehouse/yard laborer position. Receives, loads, stores and distributes freight as directed. May do so manually or by using forklifts or other equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Loads and unloads trailers, with or without mechanical freight-handling equipment. * Ensures that load is secure by using a variety of cargo straps, tarps, ropes, lumber and other tools. * May perform lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight. * Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device, such as forklifts or other equipment. * Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area. * Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device. * Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus * Counts, inspects, checks markings on shipments for receiving and/or delivering per the requirements of the bill of lading or other documents. * Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or in computer system. * Enters information on company computer system as required. Data input methods include keypunching, scanning or other electronic processes. * Makes inquiries from computer system. * Operates other simple business machines. * Maintains detailed business records as required. * Reports any and all safety hazards. * Reports on-the-job-injuries or equipment/cargo accidents immediately to the on-duty supervisor. * Dependable and consistent attendance required. Description The Material Handler ensures that all necessary equipment and supplies are provided to technicians/ installation personnel, sourced from the warehouse, supply houses, and job stock. We have a dedicated team of receivers who receive up to 200 loads per week. Our receiving crew work together to unload trailers, break down pallets, make sure items are on receiving paperwork match what's on the pallet. They then insure all items are slotted in the proper location and handle inventory control. Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To Ability to work in a refrigerated environment (36-degrees) Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently Physical capacities to utilize moving motorized equipment (electric pallet jack, sit down forklift, stand-up forklift) in a fast paced environment. Basic arithmetic skills (addition/subtraction) Ability to read, write and speak English Fluently Auditory ability to take orders via a headset.
