Basic Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
* Operates equipment such as diesel or gasoline powered forklifts, bulldozers, skid steers or heavy pay loaders, excavators to perform any work for which equipment is designed.
* Maintains housekeeping standards as part of fire safety program or as designated by location staff/management.
* Responsible for checking equipment for damage or repairs needed and reporting information to Maintenance Supervisor or Terminal Manager.

* Performs all duties assigned by the Shift Leader(s), Operations Manager(s), and Terminal Manager to make sure port operations continue without interruption.
* Ensure that safe equipment operating conditions are met before and during operation.
* Works closely, as needed, with flaggers when making lifts or rigging equipment or material.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:
* Experience operating forklifts of various types and sizes, in vessel ship holds and barges
* Ability to respond to issues quickly, safely and effectively in a fast-paced, stressful operating environment
* Valid TWIC or ability to obtain a TWIC required
* Ability to work outside in all types of weather
* Must be available to work varied hours, shifts including days/nights/weekends/holidays as required

THE OPPORTUNITY:
General Warehouse associates are an essential part of Transtar's distribution network. They load and unload trucks, move material within the facility and from the loading platform by carrying, pushing, rolling or operating hand trucks, hoists, motorized conveyors, or other material handling equipment. Picking, pulling and filling orders is an essential part of our business and this position.
This position also requires individuals to stock and maintain warehouse inventory and fill outgoing orders so products are accurately pulled from stock, labeled, boxed and wrapped. There are many physical demands for this position. Individuals will spend the majority of their time standing, lifting and carrying products and climbing ladders to stock shelves and fill orders.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pull and fill stock orders for outgoing deliveries.
Separate, label and verify the count of incoming freight deliveries.
Package finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, and labeling).
Use the computer system to locate products and stock incoming deliveries.
Clean and maintain work area.
Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
