Production employees at Smithfield handle materials and use hand tools, knives, machinery, and equipment to help deliver good food responsibly to America's dinner table. Production team members at Smithfield perform physically demanding work that requires good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, strength and stamina. Team members must be available to work scheduled hours, which may include mandatory overtime, depending upon production demands.
Transporting empty and full racks (350-2500 lbs.) to production area, scales, & coolers
Scaling empty rack to get tare weight and document.
Scaling full racks to get complete weight and documents.
Loading and unloading product to and from racks
Scooping product from vats/combos (approximately 5-40 lbs. per scoop)
Other duties as assigned.
In the absence of key personnel, the employee's supervisor or qualified designee (onethat has been trained in the key employee's duties) is responsible to complete or delegate the completion of all required tasks and responsibilities.
This work is physically demanding and can require the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups. Some positions may require repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs, single lifting of heavy objects which can weigh up to 60 lbs,or lifting of objects using mechanical assistance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB: Position requires heavy lifting 10 -150 lbs, bending, twisting and moving racks, which weight a minimum of 350 lbs. to 2500 lbs. per rack. Good upper leather boot required.

Business Unit: LTL **What you'll need to succeed as a Forklift Operator at XPO** Minimum qualifications: + Be at least 18 years of age + Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator + Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends
Preferred qualifications:
+ Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry
+ Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment

What you'll do on a typical day:
+ Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight
+ Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
+ Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
+ Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies
+ Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
+ Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods
Forklift Operators are required to:
+ Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
+ Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
+ Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
