FORESTER (New Hampshire)
The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is seeking qualified candidates for a forester. This is a cooperative position between the NWTF and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and will be responsible for administering, implementing and promoting forestry improvements through NRCS technical and financial assistance programs on private lands across New Hampshire. This is a full-time, term limited position. Duty station is Orford, New Hampshire.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The forester position assists partners in promoting management of privately owned forested lands and riparian areas for multiple resource benefits, including forest health, wildlife habitat, fuels reduction and water quality. The forester provides forestry assistance to private landowners to achieve optimum environmental, economic and social benefits from forest resources. In addition, the forester will prescribe and monitor silvicultural practices and deliver technical assistance and financial assistance programs under the direction of cooperating partners.
DUTIES
· Provide multiple resource management planning that addresses significant forest and riparian health concerns on private lands through the delivery of technical assistance and available federal and state financial assistance programs
· Develop and provide recommendations for working in forest stands and riparian areas to ensure these critical habitats are included in private lands management planning
· Work with local conservation districts and NRCS District Conservationist to identify and plan multi-partner landscape level conservation projects
· Provide expertise related to management of wildlife habitat beneficial to wild turkeys, upland game birds, deer and other wildlife species with emphasis placed on forest health, including forest thinning, proper grazing regimes and riparian improvements
· Prepare and monitor forest management plans based on accepted silvicultural practices
· Prepare forest management project contracts, providing specifications and prescriptions for forest management activities appropriate for the region.
· Develop and deliver innovative forest management techniques to landowners and cooperators through workshops, written materials, field days and educational programs
· Provide internal review and input as requested on need, purpose and design during all stages of USDA-NRCS program forest management project planning and implementation
· Promote awareness and collaboration of state, federal and local conservation programs and planning, and acquire project support through engagement with conservation organizations, local conservation groups, industry and local communities

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Preferred candidates will possess experience working in the forest ecosystems, riparian communities and a working knowledge of wild turkeys, forest wildlife and their habitat requirements. Knowledge of forest entomology, pathology, forest management and planning for major silvicultural types of the region is required. A working knowledge of basic surveying principles, map reading and GIS/GPS technology, ArcGIS skills and the ability to apply professional scientific techniques to the land for which responsibilities are assigned is required. The forester will possess the ability to effectively cooperate with private landowners, the general public, cooperators
and their peers. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, to convey clear and persuasive messages that positively influence the thoughts and actions of others.

· Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Forestry from a SAF-Accredited Program or other natural resource degree with a strong forestry emphasis, or relevant experience (Applicants with a Master's degree in forestry or education/experience in wildlife management are preferred). PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must be able and willing to:
· Work alone in a diverse range of climatic and topographic conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures, biting insects, and snakes, possibly in remote areas with limited access and amenities and other extreme conditions as warranted
· Walk several miles per day in the conditions described above and drive and/or ride long distances frequently.

Stantec is seeking a Lead Biologist to join our Environmental Services Practice working within our power utility sector in the Northern California region, to provide management on our multi-discipline programs. This position includes leading desktop biological constraints reviews, and working supporting staff in completing reports, quality reviews, permit knowledge as well as maintaining key communications with the client. The position is to be based out of our Sacramento, Roseville, Chico, Redding, Nevada City, Walnut Creek, San Jose or Fresno offices and geographic alignment with other Stantec offices can be considered based on experience. Your Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Biologist, you will lead and coordinate biological desktop reviews for public and private projects supporting utility programs.
This position is primarily desktop (remote work from home or office).
Task duties include:
+ Providing quality control and maintaining a high standard for safety on biological field reports, biological reports and memos and other desktop reviews produced by junior biological staff and subcontractors.
+ Identification and support on environmental permitting, on various projects located throughout California, and coordination of biological reports with utility clients and internal Stantec teams.
+ Supporting multi-disciplinary project/program teams in all phases of the execution and delivery of utility operations and maintenance projects.
+ Understanding and knowledge of California flora/fauna will be needed, HCPs, permits, as well as understanding of typical construction activities on electric and/or gas and/or vegetation removal projects.
+ Management of author teams to make sure they are submitting quality deliverables, on-time and on budget.
+ Supporting project management teams and working on the financials of dynamic projects.

The advanced bio & physical sciences for low carbon energy (AB&PS) team is the central research organization for biosciences, chemistry, materials sciences, biofuels, green hydrogen/ electrochemistry, and the science of carbon-capture. Our team also incorporates computational modelling of biosciences and chemistry.
The opportunity is for a Senior Plant Biologist which will act as technical guide in feedstocks and will work closely with the AB&PS science teams and other collaborators across the bp businesses on bioenergy projects.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to support the scientific and technology projects to investigate and implement feedstock insights and solutions for bp. The post holder will examine, research and provide insight into both opportunities and challenges related to crop development, management, output and quality. Additionally, they will serve as an interface between bio-feedstocks production opportunities and conversion strategies.
**Key accountabilities**
+ Support bioenergy feedstock projects by applying technical expertise and know-how to see opportunities and work with the technology development teams to evaluate economics and sustainability and develop business and participation frameworks.
+ Provide technical expertise through:
+ Understanding of plant biology, plant physiology, biotechnology, plant breeding and other crop development technologies. Experience in trait development and/or biological mechanisms that regulate important plant processes and impact growth and development desired

About The Job
Dudek is seeking mid- to senior-level professionals to provide as-needed biological surveys. The successful candidate will assist our team in conducting a variety of field surveys, including field assessments and impact evaluations for botanical, wildlife, and aquatic resources. Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Field Biologist for part-time, on call employment in the southern/central California and Nevada desert regions. This position would support numerous natural resource projects in the Mojave Desert region of California and Nevada with a focus on conducting biological surveys and regulatory compliance monitoring primarily for desert tortoise and/or burrowing owl, with potential to assist with vegetation mapping, wildlife assessments, habitat restoration, and/or permitting implementation with support from a senior biologist. This is a field-based, fully remote position requiring the ability to be local on field assignments for extended periods but linked to a Southern California-based office.
Training and/or experience conducting surveys for listed species local to southern California and Nevada desert regions including desert tortoise, burrowing owl, Mojave fringe-toed lizard, and Mojave ground squirrel is preferred. Applicant must meet guidelines to become a desert tortoise monitor by the USFWS and CDFW.
The responsibilities of this position could include a subset of those listed below based on relevant experience:
Conduct desert tortoise, burrowing owl, desert kit fox, and American badger surveys and monitoring.
Conduct general wildlife and/or botanical surveys, including vegetation and habitat mapping.
Identify and record native and non-native fauna and/or flora in the field.
Conduct other special-status species surveys, following established protocols or guidelines as relevant.
Conduct avian nesting surveys and avian mortality monitoring.
Support project execution, including pre-construction surveys and construction monitoring.
Assist with environmental compliance monitoring.

The advanced bio & physical sciences for low carbon energy (AB&PS) team is the central research organization for biosciences, chemistry, materials sciences, biofuels, green hydrogen/ electrochemistry, and the science of carbon-capture. Our team also incorporates computational modelling of biosciences and chemistry.
The opportunity is for a Senior Plant Biologist which will act as technical guide in feedstocks and will work closely with the AB&PS science teams and other collaborators across the bp businesses on bioenergy projects.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to support the scientific and technology projects to investigate and implement feedstock insights and solutions for bp. The post holder will examine, research and provide insight into both opportunities and challenges related to crop development, management, output and quality. Additionally, they will serve as an interface between bio-feedstocks production opportunities and conversion strategies.
Key accountabilities
Support bioenergy feedstock projects by applying technical expertise and know-how to see opportunities and work with the technology development teams to evaluate economics and sustainability and develop business and participation frameworks.
Provide technical expertise through:
Understanding of plant biology, plant physiology, biotechnology, plant breeding and other crop development technologies. Experience in trait development and/or biological mechanisms that regulate important plant processes and impact growth and development desired
Assisting with plant sourcing, testing and selection
Understanding of growing climate threats such as drought events or adverse precipitation patterns, decreases in biodiversity and loss of fertile soils on the future of bio-feedstocks
Provide technology strategy and roadmap directions to AB&PS research and innovation programs on bio-feedstocks to ensure alignment with bp's strategy.

Essential criteria and qualifications:
MA/MS/PhD in subject areas such as Plant Biology, Botany, Plant Genetics, Agronomy, Agriculture or related field with 5+ years of experience (or bachelor's with relevant experience).
In-depth knowledge of bio-feedstocks, and plant physiology, including experience with conversion technologies or low carbon product innovation. Understand the interdependence of feedstock production and its utilization.

The Office of Building Water System Oversight (BWSO) within the Bureau of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE) is responsible for conducting inspections to ensure compliance with various rules and regulations aimed at improving the operating conditions of various engineered systems such as cooling towers, water tanks, evaporative condensers, internal plumbing, and wastewater systems in order to prevent risks associated with these systems.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
* Under supervision, the Scientist (Water Ecology) Level I will assist in performing field inspections that include regulatory compliance review of Water Maintenance Plans, Operational Records, Chemical Treatment, and Mechanical Equipment for a facility's water systems. Including but not limited to various cooling tower systems and potable water systems. Field inspections may also include water sample collection and water quality analysis.
* Under supervision will assist to generate and submit field inspection reports according to the Bureau's inspection protocols.
* Under supervision, will assist with customer service to our regulated community including building owners, facility maintenance personnel, superintendents, and any other responsible parties.
* Assist to provide recommendations to improve regulatory compliance and corrective actions to eliminate environmental health hazards promptly in accordance with the NYC Health Code and NYS Sanitary Code regulations.
* May be trained to review inspection findings and prepare necessary evidence used by the Department at Tribunal hearings convened to adjudicate notice of violations and summonses.

Conduct field surveys, following established survey protocols for wildlife, vegetation, and wetlands, along with conducting environmental inspections and reclamation monitoring.

Work with other field staff, under the supervision of field leads or project managers, in the performance of field work.

PROGRAM AND JOB DESCRIPTION: The Office of Building Water System Oversight (BWSO) within the Bureau of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE) is responsible for conducting inspections to ensure compliance with various rules and regulations aimed at improving the operating conditions of various engineered systems such as cooling towers, water tanks, evaporative condensers, internal plumbing, and wastewater systems in order to prevent risks associated with these systems.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Conduct investigations of building water supply and distribution systems including cooling towers, evaporative condensers, internal plumbing, and wastewater systems.
Perform environmental sampling of building water supply and distribution systems for water quality analysis including collection of water quality measurements.
Review building maintenance programs and plans for cooling tower systems to ensure compliance. Review building cooling tower systems operational records to ensure compliance.
Prepare reports pertaining to the findings of the field investigation including the preparation of electronic inspection reports using software developed for BWSO to implement inspection protocols.
Educate building owners and managers in best practices for managing cooling towers, evaporative condensers, internal plumbing, and wastewater systems.
Counsel facility/premises/owner /operator regarding regulations and remedial measures when necessary. Issue Notice of Violations and Tribunal summons for non-compliance with NYC Health Code and NYS Sanitary Code.
Participate in the development of standard operating procedures for the field and conduct field surveys associated with building water supply and distribution systems. Review plans, drawings, and specifications for building water supply and distribution systems.
Provide recommendations and take corrective actions based on findings of the field investigation as needed or directed by supervisor. Assist the ESE in related Public Health Engineering tasks including water and sewage complaints, beach inspections and sampling and pool inspections and sampling as needed.
Preferred Skills:
-Academic background in environmental or chemical engineering, limnology, environmental science, marine science, geology, biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, or health science.
-Prefer to work in the field including travel throughout the five boroughs.
