Collins Machine Works is looking for a Wire EDM Machinist that will be responsible for setting up, operating and troubleshooting Wire EDM machines to produce precision components. The ideal applicant must have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret blueprints for complex parts.

Major Responsibilities & Essential Functions
* Set up and operate CNC Wire EDM machines to cut and shape various precision parts
* Properly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
* Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling
* Read and interpret applicable drawings and blueprints of work to be performed and follows instructions

* Operates and utilizes lifting aids as necessary to perform work

**Responsibilities**

Comply with DoD drawings and hold tight tolerances on machined parts. Machinists will operate saws and occasionally use manual lathes and mills. They are expected to use common measuring tools such as dial calipers and micrometers to inspect their parts.
**Qualifications**
+ Must have a high school diploma.
+ Must have at least eight (8) years of professional experience operating CNC milling machines and lathes. (Technical training may be considered as experience)
+ Must be proficient at drawing and programing using CAD/CAM software. SolidWorks and CAMWorks are what the shop uses.
+ Basic level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Have a proficient understanding of reading and interpreting Machinist drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Capable of using common precision measuring tools such as dial calipers and micrometers to inspect in-process and completed parts.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers, and management and respond to instructions/assignments. Be willing to assist other employees with Machinist-related issues. I.e., programming and set-ups.

Ability to do some programming of three, four and five axis machine tools using Unigraphics, Power-Mill and/or MasterCam Computer Aided Manufacturing software.
Ability to set up and operate Computer Numerical Controlled milling centers with three, four and five axis capabilities.
Ability to operate conventional machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, band saws and other general machine shop equipment.
Set up machine tools selecting the proper tooling, jigs, fixtures and the correct speeds and feeds for the material being machined.
Set references of machine to include all 5 axis moves within the program. This includes verifying part is set up the necessary height so there is proper clearance between machine spindle and table (No crashes).
Order material ensuring certification is provided if needed, order/choose the proper tooling needed.
Develop flight work packages to include FIOS generation, upload supporting documentation, and coordinate support service signoffs.
Estimate time and materials to complete hardware manufacturing.
Provide necessary support for walk in work
Work with engineers/requesters concerning drawing issues or necessary drawing revisions, due dates etc.
Ability to follow strict adherence to established fabrication policies and procedures.
Fully comply with all safety regulations and provisions.
Experienced working in a team environment on projects that require multiple skills and coordination across several organizations.
Communicates well with others, written/oral and is organized in work practices.
Stay abreast of new technologies in the field of welding and fabrication to maintain a state-of-the-art capability.
