The Machinist, with limited supervision, repairs and modifies aircraft parts and tools using welding, machining and fabrication techniques according to blue prints and technical drawings following company and manufacturers' specifications using Personal Protection Equipment. In addition, this position reads and understands blue prints and technical drawings; orders tools and materials for repairs; prepares proper documentation and maintains a safe, clean and organized work area.
Essential Job Functions
1. With limited supervision uses various machines, hand tools and welders to fabricate and repair aircraft and non-aircraft tools and aircraft parts according to blue prints, customer requests and manufacturer's specifications following company procedures. Participates in training to use metal flame spray equipment to repair turbine engine parts.
2. Prepares proper documentation, including work orders, purchase orders, etc. Researches aircraft manufacturer's manuals for repair specifications for work to be completed. Orders tools and materials in preparation for current and future repairs.
3. Maintains and cleans equipment and shop area.
4. Maintains current industry, equipment and FAA knowledge by attending factory classes, OJT and by researching and reading technical documents, trade publications, FAR's, etc. Assists lesser-experienced technicians in interpreting Company policies and the FAR's.
5. Available to work all department alternate shifts as needed, and able to accomplish road trips within the United States and also other countries as needed.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job overview
Under general supervision of the CNC Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for set up, programing and operating CNC lathes and mills. The CNC Machinist I will perform basic programming using CAD/CAM package or programing at the machine. This position will provide training to CNC Machine Operators. This incumbent will machine parts and ensure that products meet Speedway's high-quality standards utilizing efficient operation of equipment.

Shifts Avaliable:
2nd Shift: Monday through Thursday, 4:15pm - 2:45am
2nd shift earns a $3.00/hr shift differential
1st Shift: Monday through Thursday, 6am - 4:30pm
Overtime, if any, is worked on Fridays. No weekends are worked.
Compensation will depend on experience level.
Here are the specifics:
Perform quality inspections to ensure Speedway's quality standards are maintained.
Monitor CNC productivity and efficiency and look for areas of improvement to quality and productivity.
Operate and program parts using:
CNC lathes with live tooling, Y-axis, sub spindles, and multiple turrets.
CNC Swiss lathes.
CNC VMC.
Horizontal machining centers.
5 axis machining centers.
Manual machines in the shop which include:
Mills, lathes, saws, drill presses, grinders, and miscellaneous hand tools.
Use precision measuring instruments including gages, calipers, and micrometers to accurately measure components and finished parts, and ability to read blueprints.
Setup and operate lathes, mills and drill presses using established safety processes and procedures.
Monitor tooling life to prevent scrap.
Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
Performs minor machine maintenance such as cleaning and lubrication of machines.
Constantly work to improve processes; make suggestions for productivity improvements, and optimize workflow, while meeting our customers' needs.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
