Key Accountabilities
· Work from process sheets, blueprints, setup sheets, setup cards, machine status boards, and verbal as well as written instructions.
· Machine and install or re-cut chuck jaws as required.
· Insert and secure tooling in machine turrets and preform machine set ups.
· Download and upload programs into machine, and make minor programming adjustments as needed.
· Operate different types of computerized numerical controls to manufacture a finished machined product by performing a wide range of machining operations within tight tolerances.
· Inspect own work for correct dimensions and ensure that company quality and quantity standards are maintained and complete required documentation. Will be required to inspect the work of other machinists.
· May be required to operate multiple machines and rotating departments.
· Enters data into ERP system.
· Load and unload component piece parts with weights up to 25 lbs
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

· Previous experience and demonstrated proficiency in operating CNC lathe, CNC mill machines, or resistance spot welder (any combination of two machines), with intermediate knowledge and experience with setting up machines.

· Minimum of 2 years of related experience, and knowledge of machining principles and methods for computer numerical controlled machine tools required
· Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

· External candidates will be required to pass a Machinist test which measures mechanical aptitude.

Job Overview:
The CNC Machine Operator is an experienced machine operator who is disciplined, creative and an excellent problem solver who will thrive in our lean manufacturing environment. A successful candidate is a reliable individual who is able to read blueprints and hold tight tolerances with a strong mechanical aptitude.
Responsibilities:
•Follow Standard Work Machine set up, running parts and preventative maintenance (PM).
•Inspect, deburr, and perform manual operations and/or operate other equipment, including the selection and presetting of tools which will be required for the next scheduled job.
•Update and maintain all visual controls and Create and/or support countermeasures and operate in and maintain a clean and safe environment.
•Participate and engage in SMED, Kaizen events, and ‘5 Whys' problem-solving exercises.
•Resolve and/or report equipment abnormalities.
•Follow company safety procedures and standards to insure individual and collective safety, in addition to avoiding unnecessary risk to oneself, co-workers, contractors, customers, and property. Be a stand for safety having the courage to call forth and report unsafe practices.
Requirements:
• 2-5 year of CNC maintenance mechanic experience
• Ability to navigate CNC controls including OSP, Fanuc, Haas controls.
• Ability to troubleshoot/repair and train others on turret alignment, spindle/motor replacements, and other machine components rebuilds.
• Strong proficiency to repair and install various voltages as needed for CNC equipment.
• Design and implement new hydraulic and pneumatic systems as required.
• Ability to identify, develop and perform required daily/weekly/monthly/semi-annual and annual maintenance on all CNC equipment.
Preferences:
• Proficiency in Fanuc robots a plus
• Proficiency in simple fabrication and welding applications

Pay Range:

Under direct supervision and guidance, this co-op role will provide an opportunity to be exposed to the medical device field and offer experience working within the Regenerative Medicine Research & Development (RegenMed R&D) group in a Scientific or Engineering capacity. As a co-op on the RegenMed R&D team, you will work with cross-functional teams that are creating novel products to transform soft tissue management by regenerating native anatomy with implants that restore normal function, sensation, and appearance. You will work alongside experienced scientists and engineers to advance these solutions, perform studies in partnership with world-leading research institutes, and collaborate with cross-functional teammates in Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and Medical Affairs to develop business cases for new product ideas. You will be responsible for design ideation, scientific study design, data analysis/interpretation, literature research, user need generation, and technical writing and presentations, including journal manuscripts and white papers. You will be assigned to specific product and/or support teams.
**Duties Include:**
Undertakes and successfully completes simple or basic project/product development tasks to include any of the following:
+ developing and documenting new product concepts
+ developing and writing study designs (bench and animal) to evaluate feasibility of prototypes
+ coordinating study execution, including those in partnership with academic research institutes or contract research laboratories
+ documenting of all study results
+ landscaping emerging regenerative technologies that can be applied to BDI Surgery priority projects
+ finding clinical unmet needs through voice-of-customer research, e.g., surgery case observations, surgeon interviews

**Requirements:**
In order to be eligible for the R&D Co-op position, the candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution and be in good academic standing pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar field. Only students in their Sophomore year or above will be considered. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required (or 4.0 for those enrolled in programs with a 5.0 scale). The student must be available to work during session indicated and have a demonstrated record of leadership and/or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities.
