We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining processes and be proficient in operating various machine tools. The Machinist must perform skilled level work in the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of a variety of metal parts and tools. Machinists must employ a high degree of accuracy and precision in performing work according to instructions and specifications. Assignments are received in the form of oral instructions, penciled layouts, blueprints, sketches, and by reference to worn or broken parts. Work methods and procedures are determined by the employee, but the work is subject to inspection during process and upon completion for quality and conformity with requirements.
Essential Functions:
Fabricates, maintains, and repairs metal objects through the operation of large lathes, grinders, welders, milling machines, drill presses and similar equipment.
Measures work carefully by using precision tools such as a micrometer.
Uses, adjusts, cleans, and stores the tools, machinery, and equipment of the machinist's trade.
Operates brush plating equipment ( optional ).
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Job related materials.
The tools, materials, methods, and standard practices of the machinist's trade.
The hazards and safety precautions of the machinist's trade.
Ability to:
Visualize parts or equipment that need to be made from rough sketches and oral instructions.
Use graphic instructions such as blueprints, sketches, models, or other visual aids.
Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
Understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions in the English language.
Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.

Acceptable Experience and Training:
Two years of experience as a skilled machinist and completion of a recognized machinist apprenticeship program, or three years of experience as a skilled machinist. Other combinations of experience and education that meet requirements may be substituted.

JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for operating one or more CNC 5-Axis grinders, turning lathes, EDM or Lasers in the production of high-precision small parts and cutting instruments. Included in this role is the setting up the machines, the creation of part profiles and shapes, the placement of specific features, and the cutting or sharpening of instrument teeth meeting final specifications. This position may include working mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends according to business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Reads blueprints and job orders for determining product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be machined, and tooling instructions such as grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used. 5%
* Sets up and operates precision CNC machines to create products meeting required dimensions. 70%
* Inspects and measures parts created to ensure specifications are achieved. 10%
* Maintains job routing information and completes signoffs as required. 5%
* Performs routine maintenance, lubrication, and replacement of worn parts on machines in coordination with maintenance personnel. 10%
* Informs the subsequent shift operator of the production status of the current shift.
* Keeps work area clean and free of oil and other residue.
* Performs other related production tasks during available time as assigned by manager or lead.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
3 or more years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred with successful experience in machine set up.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred
* Certificate from college or technical school specific to CNC Machine Operation preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
* Ability to communicate effectively; read, understand, and perform standard procedures and work instructions.
* Intermediate CNC machine and mechanical skills required.
* Intermediate math and logic skills required to include fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
* Intermediate computer skills and software use experience required.

We are currently seeking a CNC Machinist for our Statham, GA facility. This position requires familiarity with CNC set up, programming and running machines using Hurco conversational programming, G codes and canned cycles to produce high quality machined parts for custom designed packaging machines. This is a first shift position that reports to the machine shop supervisor. Job responsibilities include the following:
Read and interpret engineering prints, manufacturing manuals and both verbal and written instructions to program and plan machine set up, correct adjustments, and selection of tools. This includes spindle speeds, tool feed rates, work holding methods, and all operational sequencing.
Produce high quality machined parts.
Design and make the necessary fixtures and keys to secure materials (work holding methods) for machining. Position and secure parts on surface plate or worktable using fixtures, keys, changing “chuck jaw”, vices, V-blocks and angle plates, hand tools, etc.
Insure all machine set ups and shut downs are in line with prescribed safety procedures. This includes all necessary Lockout/Tag out procedures when needed.
Strictly follow all job safety requirements/procedures which include machine guarding, forklift truck and hoist operation and housekeeping requirements. Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Identify and choose the proper material from raw material inventory for each job order. May be required to cut raw material from larger piece of necessary raw material.
Inspects and verifies conformance of parts at the beginning of an operation and the end of machining process to specifications/tolerances using a variety of precision measuring and gauging instruments.
Debur all necessary parts after machining operation to meet required specifications and tolerances.
Act as a technical resource for other employees or other plant departments to address and resolve inquiries.
Local travel, overtime and weekend work is sometimes required.Strictly follow all electrical safety requirements and safety requirements for ladder usage, hand and power tool operation, forklift and hoist operation, and housekeeping.
Who we're looking for?
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience or completion of a 1 or 2-year Tool Technology or related program.
Familiarity with CNC set up, programming and running VMC machines, scales, calipers, micrometers and other tools used to check parts against drawings.
Familiarity with manual machining operations including mills, lathes and saws.
Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprint drawings.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to stay organized and ensure that the work area is clean, safe and orderly.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and well as be punctual and dependable.
Ability to work overtime when needed.
Must have a valid driver's license to occasionally pick up and deliver parts.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.
Ability to perform basic math including working with and converting between fractions, and decimals.
