SUMMARY Ivy Street is searching for a charismatic energized Culinary Arts Teacher to bring new ideas and programming to Ivy Street students. The Culinary Arts program consists of one teacher and two teaching assistants who work together as a team and are responsible for the instruction, training, and career preparation necessary for students to gain knowledge and comfortability in a kitchen environment. Ivy Street is for those who desire to work in an environment that supports their creativity and innovation, and serves a population were their efforts matter. Managing not only classes and student workers also managing the lunch and dinner services at Ivy Street School daily. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching & Teamwork Develop and facilitate responsive and engaging lessons based on student interest and learning styles Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the diverse learning styles and needs of students, incorporating a Project-Based Learning framework for appropriate curricular units Build healthy and meaningful relationships with students through the ARC model Communicate and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team as needed to assess student progress and determine additional supports or interventions for areas of additional treatment needs Weekly attendance in the Teacher Department Meeting As needed attendance in monthly internal Progress Team meetings (PPAM) for specific student neds Attend monthly Teacher Professional Development Attend monthly All Staff Professional Development Kitchen Oversight & Regulations Plan and prepare meals for the school, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend meals Proficiency in cooking for multiple dietary restrictions Cognizance of allergies and how to prepare foods accordingly to keep students safe Keep and maintain a safe and sanitary work environment according to all state regulatory agencies (ServSafe, DESE, EEC) Place weekly food and supply order for the school through U.S. Foods Proficiency in purchasing and receiving goods Maintain positive working relationships with vendors Develop and participate in cleaning routines within the culinary program that are aligned with state regulatory standards (EEC, Board of Health) Support and prepare for any inspections or visits from regulatory agencies Ability to work multiple hours on feet in kitchen environment SUPERVISORY Provide direct supervision to team of two culinary teaching assistants, including bi-weekly 1:1 or group supervision LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION B.A. or B.S. in Special Education, Education, or similar field Vocational Technical Teacher License in Culinary Arts (preferred) Previous experience working with neurodiverse students Experience with creating curriculum preferred A valid driver's license A background check, drug and alcohol test will be performed prior to start CPR and First Aid required, offered upon hire ServSafe certified, or ability to become certified Schedule: Full-time in person, Monday-Friday 7:00-3:00pm ------------------------------------------------------- At the Ivy Street School, we know that educators have the power to create a transformative learning experience for young people.
