    Pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various destinations usually within proximity of the consolidation/distribution center. The loading and unloading of trailers utilizing the same techniques, technology and procedures as a dock worker. Actual duties and schedule may vary depending on terminal location. Responsibilities * Load and unload cargo. * Operate a forklift as needed. * Exercise independent judgment regarding the building and tearing down of the trailer to utilize time, resources, energy, and physical demands effectively and efficiently, while complying with all weight distribution laws. * Complete routine paperwork effectively, and properly log loading sheets. * Other duties, as assigned. * Perform various tasks ranging from check-in, tractor/trailer inspection, tractor set up, and the pickup and delivery of cargo. Benefits * Make more money! Wages are Teamster Union Scale which are greater than most other carriers! Hourly employees also receive overtime pay after 8 hours/day. * All Union Employees receive health and welfare benefits with no employee paid premiums. * Each employee receives 7 days of sick leave each January 1st. Being able to work the required hours at this location will be considered a minimum requirement. * Have a Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker and hazardous materials endorsements and no automatic restriction. Foster Fuel Drivers are responsible and required to ensure their equipment is properly maintained and all records and reports required for DOT and Corporate compliance are met. DUTIES Drives truck locally or regionally to load, deliver, and unload fuel products as required. Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skill in maneuvering the vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or in tight loading/unloading areas. Abides by all company, DOT, State and Federal transportation safety regulations. Conducts daily pre-trip and post trip equipment inspections for defects and safe operating conditions; submits a daily vehicle inspection report on the condition at the end of each day. Performs basic preventive maintenance to ensure fluid levels and tire pressure are maintained. Maintains records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records and other records required by Foster Fuels or state and federal regulations. Ensures that all shipping documentation (bills of laden, weight tickets, etc.) required to move with shipments are available for inspection, that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipments when delivered, and that signed proof of delivery tickets are turned into dispatch daily. Reports all accidents/incidents involving driver or company equipment immediately after an incident occurs to the Supervisor. Promptly reports any delays due to breakdown, weather or traffic conditions, or other emergencies. Also reports if there is more than a one-hour delay in getting unloaded or loaded, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or delivery of fuel. REQUIRED SKILLS Requires Class B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. Minimum one-year experience as a commercial truck driver. Able to drive manual transmissions. Must have a current DOT physical examination card and clean DMV record; and maintained during the duration of employment. Must be familiar with local travel in and around the Northern Virginia area and neighboring counties and cities. Ability to complete simple calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Requirements: Class B CDL Manual Transmission - Required Clean Driving Record (No major traffic violations, tickets or accidents for the last 7 years.) Must pass pre-employment DOT physical/drug screening Ability to pass background checks for secure facility access, preferred Must be willing to perform manual labor related tasks to support projects Responsibilities: Safely operate commercial vehicle while driving and maneuvering in a variety of situations, such as heavy traffic, construction sites, and tight areas within Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules, regulations, and guidelines. Complete daily pre- and post-trip inspection and maintain inspection reports. Maintain daily mileage logs and work tickets. Maintain assigned vehicle(s) to a high standard of cleanliness. Ensure the company's health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met. Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers. Must be willing to perform manual labor related tasks to support projects.
