A local community bank is seeking to hire a full time Commercial Loan Processor that will sit hybrid onsite in Columbus or Marion Ohio. The Commercial Loan Processor is to ensure timely and accurate processing and packaging of commercial loans and modifications for closings under minimal supervision. You will be responsible for managing the loan process from loan approval through closing. Input data into the loan system in accordance with all applicable laws and bank policies/procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees the workflow of business loan processing to ensure compliance requirements are being met.
Performs loan document review and due diligence with all third- party professionals.
Review loan documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to closing.
Ensure loans in compliance with credit approval, loan settlement statement, and audit procedures.
Order vendor work (Appraisals, Floods, UCC, Title search, Title commitment through title company)
Document loans in Laserpro and Wolters Kluwer. (highly preferred)
Loan maintenance (Renewals and Modifications)
Ensure proper booking of the loan.
Lean perfection, exception, and documentation.
Assist in assuring that overall system integrity related to commercial loan system/ software.
Assist with loan monitoring, mortgage recordings, title liens, possessory collateral, and financial information for each loan. Including deposit requirements into Fahey banking account.
Pre/Post Close QC of your documentation prior to closing.
Teamwork - Contributes toward achieving Underwriting Team Objectives through activities such as: answering questions, efficient and accurate transactions, informing operations, underwriting team about other related products and services, assisting other department team members when needed.
Strong support and excellent working relationship with the Commercial Lending team.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

The Team
Our Mortgage Operations team is the newest division at Upstart. For launch, we're looking to start with a HELOC product across several states. Over the next 18 months we're looking to rapidly expand the product across all 50 states. Over time, we will also add additional products, including additional equity and 1st mortgage products. The team will be small to start, so we're looking for individuals with a start up mentality, willing to go above and beyond their job descriptions to help our customers and ultimately put Upstart Mortgage at the top of the list for best places to get a Home Loan.
NMLS License requirement: Candidates who do not currently hold an NMLS license will be required to take the NMLS SAFE exam within the first 60 days of employment and achieve a passing score of 75% or higher. Employment will be contingent upon passing this exam and gaining licensing. Candidates will be given two opportunities to pass the exam in order to remain employed in the role at Upstart.

How you'll make an impact:
As a Licensed Loan Processor you will assist Customers with navigating the mortgage HELOC process by helping them understand the loan products we offer as well as talking them through their pricing options.
Deliver an outstanding customer experience by representing Upstart when working with potential borrowers as part of the verification process.
Serve as a resource for customer issues, complaints, application information verification, and other complex tasks.
Identify possible areas of process and workflow improvements, contribute to the development and implementation of solutions.
Responsibilities will include outbound (warm) calls; inbound phone support, and email communications.

What we're looking for:
Minimum qualifications:
Must have at minimum 6 months experience in a customer contact operations role.
3-5 years of experience in mortgage loan processing or loan officer roles at a Financial Institution or Mortgage company directly supporting customers
Proven experience handling difficult or complex customer communications both verbally and in writing, including the ability to generate succinct timelines and escalation details

The Mortgage Loan Officer will initiate the mortgage process for potential clients, preparing, analyzing, and verifying mortgage loan applications for the purchase or refinance of real estate.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May assist with training new mortgage officers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Meets with and interviews potential and current clients to understand their lending needs including first-time mortgages and refinance of existing loans.
Explains the differences between and approval requirements of various types of mortgages; prepares and presents a lending package based on client specifications.
Assists clients with completion of mortgage applications, inspecting completed documents for accuracy and thoroughness.
Reviews loan applications, gathers credit histories and reports, and assesses applicants capacity to repay and default risk.
Based on predetermined requirements, assesses, and grants or rejects mortgage applications.
Views or visits property for real estate purchase or refinance.
Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the local real estate market; current and predicted lending rates; and changes in rules, regulations, and best practices of various mortgages.
Develops and maintains contacts with local realtors, developers, and builders to promote and encourage the use of bank services for residential mortgages.
Performs other duties as assigned.
