Your Role as a Residential Lender

Orders credit reports and analyzes the credit history of applicants to determine their loan repayment capabilities. Completes appropriate underwriting documentation for each loan file.
Submits loan to AUS for initial approval.
Ensures maintenance of consistent file management, documentation and loan administration practices.
Attends loan closings at various locations in the community they serve.
Actively markets SmartBank's mortgage products and services to realtors, builders, CPA's, financial planners, title companies, etc. to solicit mortgage business. Completes weekly sales call reports and pipeline reports in a timely manner.
Handles mortgage loan inquiries (cold calls) generated from advertising sources, customer referrals, etc. for assigned territory by visiting potential clients in the field.
Cross-sells all other bank products when warranted and appropriate.
Complies with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field preferred.
Two to four years of experience in originating secondary market mortgages, preferably in a bank environment.

Skilled in technology with the ability to quickly navigate applicable lending software and virtual/digital work. Ability to work in a paperless environment. Ability to work with confidence in multiple software applications simultaneously. Possess the ability to incorporate existing or available technologies to help automate certain processes.
Skilled in both verbal and written communications, able to correspond with members and venders with professionalism. Must have a broad knowledge and understanding of credit union loan policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from members. Ability to communicate at all levels in the organization. This includes proper phone etiquette.
Ability to work independently, as well as contributing to a team, in a fast-paced environment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
Comprehensive understanding of annual percentage rate, amortization schedules, and simple interest calculations.
Successful completion of REG B and REG Z courses.
Mental & Physical Requirements: Requires sitting 6-8 hours a day; Stress related to managing application volume. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and occasional after hours as necessary. Saturday hours are required on rotation.

Job Description
The Loan Processor is responsible for:
Completes transactions between bank, sellers and borrowers, by performing the following duties
Assembles, prepares and processes loan packages for consumer and commercial loans following bank policies and procedures
Verifies accuracy and completeness of all loan files obtaining proper signatures, dates and other relevant data
Ensures accuracy and current on RESPA and TRID disclosures
Ensures proper communication with various departments to help handle customers and processing/closing loans
Ability to book loans (consumer, real estate and commercial) onto computer system using loan software
Qualifications
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
College degree or relevant experience required
Knowledge of lending guidelines and regulations, including ATR, TRID, HMDA, ECOA, etc.
Good understanding of financial institution products and services
Ability to read and comprehend training materials, bank communications and related loan manuals
Ability to learn and follow bank policies regarding the lending process
