  • Young Adults Pastor

    Connection Pointe Christian of Brownsburg

    Brownsburg, IN

Job Details Main Location - Brownsburg, IN Full Time DESCRIPTION The Young Adults Pastor will lead the implementation of the Connection Pointe's Worldview Vision for the young adults (18-29 year olds) at Connection Pointe across all locations. This will primarily take place through ownership of the Thursday night young adults gathering, the career mentoring program, and college ministry partnerships. This individual will work closely with young adults, adult career mentors, high school seniors, and young adult ministries at strategic universities. They will partner with the student ministry team to insure a smooth transition from high school ministry to young adult ministry. This is not a typical college or young adult ministry. Its elements are strategically designed to integrate with our church-wide Worldview vision and initiatives and address common issues that cause young adults to walk away from Christianity. This leader will need to be simultaneously detailed oriented, and community and discipleship minded. Ultimately, the goal is to help Connection Pointe' young adults defy the trend of 2/3 young adults walking away from the church and instead equip them to become spiritual leaders in our church, community, and state. WHO WE ARE Our Connection Pointe Staff Team is a unified group of imperfect people who tirelessly work to connect people to a saving relationship with Jesus and life changing relationships with each other. As individuals we have a personal relationship with Christ and are committed to the vision of Connection Pointe Christian Church. How We Lead We give ministry away: as staff we are always looking for faithful volunteers who can step up into roles that allow us to expand and replicate ourselves. We look for leaders who can lead leaders. We work hard and prioritize our families: with the exception of Easter, Christmas and other “all hands” pushes, we work 5 days a week and have an extended two-day sabbath from Friday through Saturday for weekend required employees that allows us to leave work at work and be with our families. We are always improving: we seek new ways of connecting people to Jesus and each other. We are always asking “How could we make this experience or environment better?” We are customer first: we seek world class customer experiences that meet people in their mess and surpass expectations. We find a way: we cut through red tape, relentlessly seeking to serve the people in our care with grace, perseverance and courage. There is always a way, we just have to find it. We assume the best and fight for unity RESPONSIBILITIES Thursday night young adult gathering Lead our main young adult gathering that meets after the Thursday night church service. Maintain an environment where young adults can find Christian community and friendships, and where they can be pushed to apply their faith to all areas of their current life circumstances. Preserve a safe place where questions are encouraged and truth can be earnestly and honestly pursued. Encourage the young adults to attend a main church service and make it their primary source of worship and preaching. Plan monthly community building events. Build community engagement outside of the Thursday night gathering. Plan and execute a few conferences or retreats throughout the year. Equip the young adults to be spiritual and professional leaders in their school and work environment. Give ministry away to the young adult leadership team and develop them to serve their peers in significance and useful ways. Career mentoring Program Carry out our vision of pairing every single Connection Pointe high school graduate with an adult in our church who works in the field/career that the student wants to pursue. Refine the pairing, training, and communication processes. Recruit mentor coordinators who can serve the mentors. Work with student ministry staff to work towards 100% participation from graduates. Cast vision and provide training for the adult mentors. Create systems to handle the eventual thousands of participants. College ministry partnerships Foster a mutually beneficial and highly collaborative relationship with one college ministry at every major university that our high school graduates will end up at ( IU Bloomington, Purdue, and IU Indy). Work with those ministries to ensure that all CP students going there are pursued and connected to Christian community. Create events throughout the year to engage those students ahead of time. Work alongside the student ministry staff to maximize transitional retention. PERSONAL GROWTH Consistently seek personal and professional growth through prayer, study, and participation in conferences, workshops, and training opportunities Maintain a healthy work-life balance and prioritize self-care to avoid burnout and maintain effectiveness in ministry Stay current with trends in theology, culture, young adult needs, and community development, adapting strategies and approaches as needed Strive to improve personal and professional skills by looking for and participating in learning opportunities. Attend a weekly service to stay in tune with the direction of Connection Pointe and to continue developing spiritually. HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED Match 90% of all high school graduates with a career mentor. Guide the formation of the young adult ministry across all Connection Pointe locations. Have an effective outreach and follow-up process for the young adult ministry. Get a large percentage of the young adults in the church to engage with the young adults gathering. Lead and train the young adults leadership team. Plan and execute the training of mentors to include specific training modules and in-person training. Have a great relationship with college ministry partners. Regularly visit partner college ministries to maintain strong relationships and encourage retention. Create and maintain effective systems for communication and operation of initiatives. Collaborate with the student ministry team well to strengthen transitional retention from high school to young adulthood. Be on location & available for weekend services (Thursdays and Sundays) for needs and/or assignments. Be available to work evenings and weekends for services, training, meetings and various young adult needs. Respond to emails and phone calls within 24 hours of being in the office. Manage the budget and all managerial duties with professionalism and appropriate urgency Perform related duties as assigned.
