Throughout the summer, teachers will work in and out of the classroom with students and travel to over 30 historic sites around Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia including the U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian museums, Harpers Ferry, Gettysburg, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestowne, and many more.
This fellowship will provide teachers with room & board, a $5,000 stipend, transportation to and admission at all historic sites visited, and a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience American history in the places it actually happened.
The Academy offers an inspiring and engaging learning environment. Each week, the students will take 3-4 trips to historic sites. On classroom days, Teaching Fellows, with the assistance of Counselors/Teaching Assistants, will guide students as they read primary source documents and engage in rich debate and discussion about significant periods in American history. The Academy will employ a hybrid of formal and informal learning methods through discussion, reading texts, watching films and documentaries, and lectures by over 30 noted leaders and historians. Requirements:
* Archery Background: Preferably possess an archery background.
* Certification(s): Archery certification required.
* Education: Completion of a minimum of two (2) years of college; bachelor's degree preferred. A degree in Physical Education or Kinesiology is preferred.
* Experience: We are looking for experience teaching and working with children.
* Previous experience in classroom teaching, fieldwork, or a minimum of two (2) years of ESF experience.
* Previous experience working with children in a camp setting is preferred.
* Hours: Typically, from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm, Monday to Friday, with opportunities for extended hours.
* Schedule Commitment: Any schedule changes must be pre-approved by the site director.
* Required Training: Complete all required ESF and state-mandated training and onboarding.
* Dress Code: Maintain the "ESF Look" (camp uniform) and embody the spirit of the camp.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
* Teach & Inspire: Implement ESF curriculum. Actively engage campers, offer support, and provide guidance to bring lesson plans to life.
* Dive Into the Camp Day! Promote and lead daily activities and projects with enthusiasm, collaborating effectively with counselors and fellow instructors.
* Safety & Positive Group Management: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers with emphasis on positive behavior and effective group management. Promptly report any concerns to the Site Director.
* Enforce all archery rules and regulations.
* Ensure safety of campers and team members in and out of the archery area
* Supervision of the archery area, including equipment (proper set-up, supervision, and maintenance)
* Be the Ultimate Role Model: Supervise campers, while fostering a positive and safe environment.
* Demonstrate ESF Core Values & Code daily, from "Gratitude" to "Bring It" daily.

Reporting Relationships:
* Directly report to and take guidance from the Camp Director, with additional accountability to the Site Director.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Push/pull, lift, and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus. Work outside, upright, and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day
* Respond to emergencies, including running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and ascending stairs without undue exertion.
