Job description: Duties include: providing legal advice to the Office of the County Executive, County Legislature, elected officials, commissioners, agency heads and employees on a variety of matters; providing day-to-day guidance to legal, paralegal and clerical staff, when assigned; attending public hearings, boards, commission meetings, and meetings with County, public and elected officials; participating in meetings and conferences; working with legal staff in the handling of their assigned cases; preparing case status and statistical reports, as required; conducting training for attorneys, paralegal staff and other County personnel on pertinent areas of law, newly enacted regulations, recently decided cases. Does related work as required. Required Qualifications: 1. Possession of a license to practice law in New York State; and 2. Provision of a current certificate of good standing; 3. License to practice law in the State of New York must be maintained throughout the course of employment in this title; 4. As a public officer one must meet all current requirements of Section 3 of the Public Officers Law, including, but not limited to United States citizenship and applicable residency requirements.
