Legal Assisant - URGENT!!!
Law Clerk Job 45 miles from Ontario
About the Job: Do you thrive in chaos and love a good challenge? Can you juggle tasks with the precision of a circus performer and the speed of a caffeinated squirrel? If you said "yes" (or even just thought about saying yes), then you might be the Administrative Legal Rockstar we've been searching for!
We need someone who can provide administrative support to a team of attorneys who are just as excited about deadlines as they are about coffee breaks. If you're passionate about keeping chaos in check while handling tasks that make other people run for the hills (we're talking filing, scanning, and making sure that legal documents actually get to the right place), this job is for you!
This role is hybrid, with three days in office.
Your Daily Adventures (aka Job Responsibilities):
Be the wizard of organization: Filing, copying, scanning, and saving documents like a pro (without breaking a sweat).
Assist with legal tasks (e-filings, proofs of service, deadlines) like a legal superhero, cape optional but highly encouraged.
Draft basic pleadings and discovery documents-then polish them until they shine brighter than a lawyer's smile after winning a case.
Help schedule meetings, depositions, mediations, hearings (virtual or in-person). Basically, you'll be our team's calendar overlord.
Help with trial prep: Keep exhibits organized and trial binders on point, because nothing says "professional" like an unflappable binder.
Be the phone whisperer: Answer calls, draft emails, and generally handle client and vendor communications like a smooth operator.
Master the art of client onboarding and offboarding-think of it as setting up and packing up for a VIP guest.
Handle monthly reimbursement reports-because nothing says "I got this" like making sure expenses are on point.
Mail and packages: You'll be the delivery hero (with a flair for sorting the good stuff from the junk).
Other special tasks as assigned (AKA you never know what might come your way, but you'll totally rock it).
Qualifications (aka Superpowers You'll Need):
Tech-savvy: You know your way around Windows, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office. Bonus points if you've ever made Excel bow to your will.
You're familiar with civil court procedures and know how to e-file like a boss.
You've worked with legal CRM, DocuSign, and document management systems-and you actually enjoy it.
Speedy Typist: You type at least 65 words per minute, but more importantly, you type them correctly (we're not asking for a typing race, just for accuracy).
You can work independently but also thrive as part of a team (because let's face it, solo lawyers are just a movie myth).
You can multitask like a champion and love deadlines (or at least, you can beat them).
You handle confidential information like Fort Knox.
And let's not forget the basics: Strong communication, organization skills, and a genuine love for paperwork.
Education and Experience (aka Credentials You Need):
A Bachelor's degree (because we like to think you're brilliant).
Experience in a law office or professional services environment. Bonus points for litigation experience (but if you're a quick learner, we can help you get there!).
Why You'll Love It Here:
A team that appreciates attention to detail but also knows how to laugh at the occasional "lawyer joke."
You'll be a key player in keeping things running smoothly (and you'll be a little bit famous in the office for it).
Opportunity to grow, learn, and maybe even become the office legend who mastered the art of document management and coffee-making.
