Recommending changes in practice and policy related to the interpretation of immigration regulations to provide fair, equitable, and consistent advising across all constituents; assisting with I-17 updates and annual reports, reviews, and recertifications / redesignations. Advising students on F-1 benefits such as on-campus work, CPT/OPT/STEM OPT, SSR Economic Hardship, Cap Gap, etc. as outlined in regulations by providing individual and group advising and workshops for international students, scholars and other relevant constituents on immigration; conducting open office hours for walk-in advising. Supporting programs for new international students and scholars, including the preparation of pre-arrival information, facilitating immigration check-in, orientation sessions and programs to assist student in their ongoing adjustment to the University and to the US; and working with on-campus constituents to ensure the student provides the proper documentation upon arrival (Residence Life, University Health Services, Risk Management); serving as a liaison for the international student insurance process.
