Responsibilities
Mows and edges laws, using power mowers and edgers
Operates powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, chippers, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, roto-tillers, brush chippers, lift trucks, trenching equipment sod cutters and pruning saws
Shovels snow/chips ice from walkways, driveways, parking lots, cart paths, and golf course greens & tees.
Cares for established lawns by mulching, aerating, wedding and removing thatch
Trims and edges around flower beds, walk ways and walls
Uses hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge and brunch trimmers and axes
Prunes and trims trees, shrubs and hedges, using shears, pruners or chain saws
Gathers and removes litter
Maintains and repairs grounds tools and equipment
Mixes and sprays fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides onto grass, shrubs and trees using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders
Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters and other ground features
Performs spa checker duties as necessary
Irrigates plants/flowers
Assists with laying sod
Re-sods and/or repairs lawn
Assists with general installation and repairs of irrigations systems

Contacts appropriate party if when a guest problem is reported
Provides general resort information for guests

Working collaboratively with the Grounds team, the Groundskeeper is responsible for the care, preparation, and maintenance of the University grounds using hand or power tools or equipment. The Groundskeeper also diagnoses and corrects horticulture problems within the scope of required expertise.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain and care for University grounds and athletic fields utilizing various hand or power landscaping tools and equipment, such as: shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or bush trimmers, tractor, one-ton truck/utility car, riding/push lawn mower, leaf blower, aerator, chain saw, sprayer, rototiller, sod cutter, boom lift, backpack sprayer and trailer.
* Plant, fertilize, prune, and maintain the health of trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, lawns and other vegetation; cut downed trees for disposal.
* Prepare chemicals for work application. Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides onto grass, shrubs or trees using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
* Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters and other grounds features.
* Work with Supervisor and Irrigation Specialist/Lead Groundskeeper to use irrigation methods to adjust the amount of water consumption and to prevent waste.

The school district receives strong support from the Hermiston community. In 2019 voters approved an $82.7 million building project, which included replacement of Rocky Heights Elementary (opened fall 2022); construction of an additional elementary school, Loma Vista (opened fall 2022), and a multi-classroom annex of the high school (opened fall 2023); along with various district-wide renovations. Voters also approved a $69.9 million bond in 2008.
The district employs over 630 full time staff that includes approximately 390 teachers and over 260 classified, support, and supervisory personnel, making it one of the largest employers in the city of Hermiston. Salary and Benefits:

Plant, fertilize, prune, and maintain the health of trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, lawns and other vegetation; cut downed trees for disposal.
