Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The Division of Facilities Management functions are to design, construct, maintain and operate the physical facilities of the University. The number one objective of the department is to provide and maintain facilities that will enhance and support the mission and academic goals of the University. The primary responsibility of the organizational unit is providing cleaning, sanitizing and floor care to campus housing and academic and administrative buildings. Description of Work Continued: The Temporary Landscape Technician will perform the following duties at the main campus and existing properties at Fayetteville State University 1200 Murchison rd. Fayetteville NC, 28301. The Landscape Technician will have the following responsibilities: * Mowing grass, * Trimming grass, trimming shrubs and trees. * Performing various landscaping related duties. * Assist with planting flowers, bulbs, trees, shrubs. * Pavement and asphalt repairs. * Performs daily debris removal from university grounds. * Operates assigned equipment in the performance of duties. * Assists in the application of pesticides. * May be required to perform grounds maintenance duties without supervision. * Required to perform grounds tasks in all types of weather conditions. This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week. Weekly scheduled days and work hours will vary and may include weekends and evenings. Advance notice of schedules will be provided. This position requires a valid driver's license. Selected applicant must have and maintain an acceptable driving record, preferably five or more years of driving experience with no more than one minor at fault accident or violation in the past three years. As a Seasonal Landscape Worker, you will perform manual work in the maintenance of Cary maintained facilities and landscapes. Our seasonal landscape employees are primarily responsible for mowing and edging during peak season. Individuals may also assist with other maintenance projects or special teams as needed. This seasonal position will work full-time for approximately 5 to 6 months. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of weekend/overtime work. Typical Tasks Assist a team in the maintenance of Cary's parks and facilities Provide upkeep of Cary facilities with daily cutting, edging, trimming and blowing Assist in completing landscape projects to include mulching and plant maintenance/replacement Monitor and maintain weed control Prepare and maintain sporting event fields, primarily through lining and dragging Assist with other athletic events or programs/special events as needed Complete facility and park cleanup after severe weather events Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience in the use of gas-powered trimmers, mowers, blowers, shovels, rakes, and other small landscaping equipment. Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 18 years old, or older. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history. Physical requirements: This position requires the ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, bend, push/pull, and heavy lifting. Ability to work in all weather conditions is necessary. Preferences: Experience in the use of gas-powered trimmers, mowers, blowers, shovels, rakes, and other small landscaping equipment.
