Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on all equipment as necessary. 10% General Lab Duties Successfully participate in required proficiency testing and competency evaluations. Answer questions from patients and other staff regarding lab policies and procedures, testing, etc. 10 % Phlebotomy Blood drawing on adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients that come into the lab for testing. Techniques include venipuncture and capillary puncture using standard phlebotomy supplies and equipment. All techniques must be performed abiding by OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen regulations. Explain and reassure patients, and guardians if patient is pediatric, about the phlebotomy procedure. Collect blood specimen in a timely manner and in the container appropriate for the test to be performed. 5% Additional Support Fill in at the Havelock clinic as assigned by the supervisor and transport specimen, mail, supplies, etc. to the CCHD New Bern office at the end of the day.
