JOB SUMMARY
PetSmart’s Pet Stylist in Training is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and best in class salon services. This position will receive training and guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams, learning from the best in the industry on proper grooming techniques. This position is also responsible for upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness, recommending of solutions for pet parents, and pet safety standards.
Pet Stylist in Training role is obtained once the associate has successfully completed the PetSmart Grooming Academy.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may vary depending on store characteristics and needs:
While under supervision, performs full menu of bath, brush and grooming services and standalone services, such as nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services in accordance with PetSmart’s bathing standards and procedures.
Develop and display safe technical skills that will meet or exceed the company's minimum expectations.
Recommends additional health and wellness solutions with Pet Parents based on pet’s needs.
Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone and at the sales register.
Greets pet parents, answers their questions, and assists with making reservations in the salon.
Conducts salon appointment reminder calls, maintains client records and consults with pet parents on services offered.
Performs check-in and check-out procedures for grooming appointments, including applicable paperwork and rebooking.
Promotes opportunities to grow salon sales to help achieve sales targets and productivity, and any other relevant salon metrics.
Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise and services.
Maintains the highest level of cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area, by performing maintenance throughout the day including end of day cleaning in accordance with the maintenance checklist.
Responsible for taking immediate action when a sick/injured pet is identified in the store; transport to the vet as needed.
Assists and works in other departments as required. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification program.
Prior grooming experience preferred; may be asked to complete a technical exam.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
Flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Associate required to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms: stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. The Manager Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare you for a leadership role within 84 Lumber. This role offers hands-on training across all aspects of store operations with the goal of promotion to a management position. Recommends additional health and wellness solutions with Pet Parents based on pet’s needs.

Conducts salon appointment reminder calls, maintains client records and consults with pet parents on services offered.
Performs check-in and check-out procedures for grooming appointments, including applicable paperwork and rebooking.

Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise and services.

Responsible for taking immediate action when a sick/injured pet is identified in the store; transport to the vet as needed.

Once successfully completing the training period, the trainee will be assume the normal Salaried Catering Manager's job responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined below:
The Salaried Catering Manager reports to the Food Service Manager and has direct responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Catering Department at their location.
Key Accountabilities:
Top Line Catering Sales and the bottom-line Profitability of the Catering Department.
Catering Team Leadership and a champion for “Putting People First” Employee Relations, by establishing, developing, training and maintaining exceptional customer service by all Catering employees.
Job Functions:
Works cooperatively with the Catering Director, Food Service Manager and the larger Food Service Team to develop and deliver a variety of Offerings that “wow” our customers.
Aligns staffing with an emphasis on recruitment and retention to meet Catering's operational needs while making the best use of Catering labor as a forecasted or budget.
Works proactively with the Catering Director to promote our catering offerings to potential customers using a variety of direct and indirect marketing methods and sales techniques.
Is seen as the Catering Customer's advocate - someone who can make their event “special” - by meeting and exceeding customer expectations every time.
Conducts face-to-face sales calls and follow-up client meetings, tastings and demonstrations; and prepares and presents detailed quotations.
Organizes custom orders and full-service events, through effective communications, record keeping, checklists, and follow-through.
Works with local rental companies, entertainment services, photographers, and event venues.
Assists with preparation of food for catered events and during high volume periods as needed.
Up-sells with Buehler's Floral, Bakery and Beer and Wine Departments to improve total store sales and providing a one-stop “event” shop.
Follow-up after the sale through phone calls, emails, and handwritten thank you cards to make sure all expectations were met.
Stays knowledgeable of our catering competitors; identify ways to build a competitive edge.
Is knowledgeable about Buehler's personnel policies and procedures, and federal and state labor laws, and sees that they are administered properly.
Plans ahead for seasonal changes, holidays, special events and promotions, with particular emphasis on organization and making the most of each opportunity.
Proactive in defining and resolving both employee and customer issues; communicates well with Store associates, customers, subordinates, and others.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.

The Manager Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare you for a leadership role within 84 Lumber. This role offers hands-on training across all aspects of store operations with the goal of promotion to a management position. Within the first 6-12 months, you can be promoted (based on performance and position availability), which can lead to up to a 40% increase in annual pay. Many Manager Trainees progress to General Manager roles within 3-4 years.
