SCOPE OF WORK: Work responsibilities consist of, as part of a team or crew or along with a site foreman, installation of, alterations to, addition and/or repair of electrical systems, including use of associated tools, materials and equipment within the commercial and industrial electrical industries. Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Jons). Job requires employees to own and have personal hand tools with them at all times. See employee required tool list. Work from all types of ladders (step (“A” frame) ladders up to 14', all sizes of extension ladders), and carry and relocate up to a 12' step ladder by one's self. Employee's total weight with tools cannot exceed the weight limit of ladder. (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.). Perform work at various heights from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other areas. Work in confined areas such as manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, with training. Wear personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses and work boots on a consistent basis and gloves, respirators, arc-flash protective gear, etc. as conditions warrant their use. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers and spending most of the work day standing, kneeling, standing on or traversing up and down a ladder. Able to work the hours that the project requires, including overtime and night shifts as appropriately scheduled. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS: Positively identify colors of wires. Have strength to bend conduit by hand with hand/foot benders up to 1” trade size E.M.T. Ability to utilize all various power tools as required. Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment. Practice and comprehend safe work procedures per company policy. Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions and written instructions. Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered) with training. Adaptability to new and changing requirements, environments, and/or information. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, walk, lift and reach overhead. Complete overhead work for full-day assignments. Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but safe and acceptable for use. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment associated with these systems. + Design, construct and start up PLC-based systems. + Use software to check out storeroom parts and enter maintenance work orders. + Diligently practice good safety and housekeeping techniques in accordance with shop rules. Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma/vocational school or equivalent. Five years of full-time experience in building maintenance AND five years of full-time experience in commercial plumbing; OR a high school diploma or equivalent, a one-year specialized education in plumbing, and three years of full-time experience in plumbing is required. A working knowledge of the State Plumbing Code and Ohio Basic Building Code is required. Must be familiar with concepts, practices, and procedures; maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry or HVAC . Knowledge of standard practices, materials and tools and knowledge of occupational hazards involved and safety precautions necessary for the building maintenance trade are required. Must be able to calculate basic math, including fractions, decimals and percentages. Must be able to read, write and comprehend common vocabulary. May be required to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, plans, layouts and/or templates. A pre-employment physical examination will be required before original appointment. An annual physical exam may be required. Maintenance/ WSU testing is required. MISSION / SUMMARY: Employees in this classification are required to repair, maintain and install any and all plant electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipment. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment associated with these systems. * Design, construct and start up PLC-based systems. * Use software to check out storeroom parts and enter maintenance work orders. * Diligently practice good safety and housekeeping techniques in accordance with shop rules. Must have general knowledge of NFPA 70E. * Other duties as assigned.
