DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: * Maintain, assemble or install, and diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of electrical equipment and systems following established procedures. * Help or assist in daily tasks as directed by the Lead Technician and or Electrical Supervisor. * Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established procedures. * Receive and complete work orders, maintaining accurate records on material and labor used. * Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates. * Maintain inventory of District-owned tools, equipment, and materials. * Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. * Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. * Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects. * Assist other crafts to complete surveys, projects and repairs of all District facilities. * Maintain, repair or assist with repairs on dishwashers, vent hoods and kitchen equipment. * Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor. * Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures. * Inspect tools, vehicle and equipment for safety, efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed. * Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. * Follow established chain of command procedure. * Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor. * Maintain confidentiality. * Regular attendance. * Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: * Minimum of four years verifiable electrical experience * Commercial experience required QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: * High School Diploma or GED * State Journeyman Electrician license * Valid Texas driving license Special Knowledge/Skills: * Good communication skills (written and verbal) * Working knowledge of state and local electrical codes * Ability to read and understand construction specifications and drawings * Ability to lead and instruct apprentice * Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material * Ability to perform mathematical calculations * Ability to diagnose and resolve problems * Ability to use hand and power tools * Ability to work with and have knowledge of electrical systems, including electrical repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques * Ability to follow written and verbal instructions CONTACT INFORMATION: SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: Supervise electrical apprentice EQUIPMENT USED: Multimeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe benders; hand and power tools (saw, drills, etc); trencher; ladder. Working in and around equipment panels with high voltage electrical connections. Working with or around high- pressure refrigerants, gas and air lines. Working with or around equipment where combustion of flammable gasses are present. Exposure to dampness, excessive noises, gas lines, extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, toxic and or corrosive chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuel. Frequent District wide travel.
