Reads blueprints and user manuals to determine proper function and installation of electrical equipment. Utilizes machine information to diagnose and troubleshoot issues. Collaborates with production personnel to understand equipment failures and determines the most effective course of action for resolution. Assists in replacing motors and other electrical components. Sizes, bends and installs new conduit runs. Assists the Plant Engineering Manager in determining work procedures. Ensures all work complies with federal, state, and local electrical codes, including the NEC and NFPA70e. Collaborates with the Sims Metal Engineering Group to uphold internal standards and recommendations. Job Summary: Supervises the daily activities of a group of general labor employees. Determines workday operational activities and production, implements proper policies and procedures. Familiar with production processes. Relies on skills, knowledge, and experience to accomplish all assigned tasks. Reviews all activities looking to eliminate waste and continuously improve processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all electrical and electronic equipment in a steel mill environment. Experience and Capable of working with 230/460/600 volt AC & 250 DC mill controls and overhead cranes. Ability to read, analyze, interpret and perform work from schematics, technical specifications, drawings and sketches. Experience with PLC systems and variable frequency drives (VFD) a plus. Shift work, weekends, call-outs and overtime a must. Perform any and all other duties as directed by supervisor or management representative within safety guidelines. Performs work in accordance with the defined Quality system and share responsibility for Quality. The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Completion of electrician course, Associate Degree, or equivalent experience is required. At least 3- 5 years of hands-on commercial or industrial electrical experience. General information Reference 2024-1124 Job title Industrial Electrician (m/f/d) Contract type Permanent Your assignment Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment (AC/DC overhead cranes, AC wound rotor/DC motors, AC/DC drives, Hydraulic systems sensors and controls, large machine tool (ie. Lathe) drives, controls, sensors, and actuators PLC I/O). Position is a member of either the Machine Tool or Hot Works Maintenance teams and will be required to walk, stand, bend, squat, work from heights, navigate uneven surfaces, and lift up to 50 pounds in a non-climate controlled industrial environment. All Electricians will be expected to follow all Finkl policies and procedures, assist with safety and housekeeping activities, and perform all tasks assigned to them by their supervisor. Must be willing to work any shift (8 hour no rotation) and overtime. Ability to react to changes in job responsibility and current tasks as needed. Strong problem solving skills to get to root cause of breakdown and repair. Proactive, logical, and pragmatic philosophy to solving problems. Ability to communicate with supervision.
